Great location! Love the zen vibe. Very clean and private. The breakfast in the morning was great. Craft pastry and banana bread were delicious. The bed and pillows were clean and so soft. Showers had shampoo and conditioner dispensers in them if you forgot your toiletry. We will definitely be coming back to this location. Wished we could've stayed longer.

It was great staying on the way back from my sedona vacation last. I would love to stay again.

Was everything I expected and more !!! We stayed in the Flagstaff room and it was a perfect location for my husband and I. In the back of the property so no one could venture near your room unless they were suppose to be there. Surrounded by grapefruit trees, we were invited to pick as many as we wanted !! Took home 3 bags of grapefruits !! Nothing better than the real thing !! Nice to have a Keurig coffee maker in the common room just in case you need a cup of tea in the middle of the night !!! We will be back next time we are in Phoenix !!

Can't thank Dale and Eddie enough! This is - hands down - the best place to stay in all of Phoenix. Not only do they have lovely rooms and an incredibly relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, they're the kindest people to converse with! From the salt water pool to the hummingbirds drinking from the fountain to the amazing breakfasts with the freshest fruit, this place is the perfect home away from home. Thanks again, guys! We'll definitely be staying at ZenYard next time we're in Phoenix, and we hope to see you two in San Diego!

ZenYard is wonderful. I didn't want to leave. Makes me want to return to Phoenix just so I can stay there again. Dale and Eddie are extremely gracious hosts, breakfast was delicious and the hot tub heaven. I stayed in the Jerome room which I highly recommend. Understated, spacious and comfortable. Slept very well (and I'm a bad sleeper). Loved wandering around the property, loved the laid back laissez-faire attitude. Everything. Highly recommend. A seasoned traveler

This inviting, serene compound put us in the perfect state of mind from the minute we walked through the gate. We stayed in the Sedona Room, keeping the french doors wide open and enjoying the sound of a gurgling fountain and (de facto) private outdoor sitting area and jacuzzi (there's a more public jacuzzi near the pool). A grapefruit tree and hummingbirds only added to the magical quality of this place. A couple of the rooms are in casitas, so you don't even realize that other guests are there until breakfast (which, as others have said, was fresh and delicious). Eddie and Dale are so easy-going and interesting, I felt as if we were visiting old friends. The reasonable price is the icing on the cake! A very special place, indeed.

We have stayed there now twice. The first time was last May and now this past weekend. Initially I was lured by the price and location. Both great. Now I would have to think hard about finding a more appealing place in Phoenix. It is a little funky, in a good way, but it is very comfortable and Eddie, one of the owners, is a very nice, chatty, and accommodating host. I requested flowers, candy, and booze for the room and all was prepared when my wife arrived early. A couples massage was arranged for the following morning and our weekend began. Martinis, theater, restaurants, and old friends is a nice way to unwind for a few days. Zenyard makes it feel like you are in your own home, except with a pool, hot tub, fresh coffee in the morning, and AZ weather.

What a gem! Zenyard provided such a lovely, relaxing atmosphere - was super clean and cozy. SO much better than any hotel I've stayed at in Phoenix. Really made a huge difference on my entire trip to have a place that felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed at the ZenYard one night. I found the place really attractive, calming, and liked the attention that was paid to visual elements. The owners were very friendly, but not intrusive - a good thing! But there were some details that keep me from giving the place a higher rating. I sent an email when I reserved a room, mentioning that I have chemical sensitivities and asking not to clean the room with toxic ingredients prior to our arrival. Yet, the room had a really strong chemical smell. The owner wasn't sure why - he said that they clean with steam only. So, maybe that's not a common occurrence... Because the room didn't have openable windows, the only way to air it was by leaving the door open, not something we could do at night, when we wanted more privacy. Another issue - small, but important IMO: Paying $128 a night didn't seem to include free filtered water. I found that not OK. And last - the continental breakfast included a fruit salad - some of the ingredients were fine, but it also included green grapes that looked completely over the hill. I fished them out... This might seem like a small thing, but it would be nice if the same attention given to visual enjoyment applied here too. All of these things seem easily fixable, so I'm hoping that this review will be seen as constructive criticism.

Repeat of several things that were mentioned - great hosts, calm environment, nice healthy breakfasts (tons of delicious fruit). For my husband and I it was also the best part of Phoenix. We weren't keen on sharing the bathroom, but Eddie said they were hoping to remodel soon and there would be private bathrooms. If I had to go back to Phoenix , I would definitely stay at the ZenYard.

I consider this place to be one of the best B&B experiences I've ever had, and honey, I've had my fair share. From the initial personalized pick-up at the PHX airport by owners Eddie & Dale, to our last morning there, this place earns its five stars. Imagine staying at the home of a creative, spiritual, artsy friend, and you'll get the picture. The price was incredibly reasonable and the airy vibe and decor will definitely please those who prefer life off the beaten path. As far as location goes, it couldn't get much better. It's within walking distance of some cool local bars and an amazing Costa-Rican owned restaurant (Ticoz), and super close to the airport--we made it there in 10 minutes. The pool and hot tubs are an added bonus and the rooms are clean and homey. As far as the breakfast portion of the hotel goes, it's nothing fancy, definitely your standard continental with assorted bagels, breads, hard-boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, and a variety of cereals. Hosts Eddie and Dale strike the perfect balance between social and helpful, but aren't in your face during your stay. It almost goes without saying, but this place is super gay friendly but will also be a welcome treat for the solo traveler or the straights. If you're making a pit-stop in Phoenix (as I was), or staying there for vacation, be sure to stay at the ZenYard. It is among one of my more memorable hotel stays and allowed me to relax and feel lucky to have found such a diamond in the rough.

We just returned from our Spring Training trip to Arizona and had a wonderful time staying at ZenYard Guest House for 3 nights. We generally prefer B&B's over large chain hotels and found ZenYard to be the perfect choice with an ideal price. The location was ideal - close to both the airport and Spring Training facilities. Dale and Eddie, ZenYard's owners, were gracious host and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We truly felt like we were staying with friends. They respected our privacy but were always there to offered up suggestions on local attractions/restaurants and share great conversation over breakfast. We stayed in the Central Suite which had it's own private bath, kitchen and separate entrance off of the parking area - perfect for our needs. Breakfast was provided each morning which included Dale's wonderful homemade breads, fresh fruit, bagels, yogurt, etc. We took advantage of the pool everyday and lounged in the warm sun on the comfy patio chairs. I would definitely recommend ZenYard to travelers looking for a relaxing and intimate alternative to a hotel. We will definitely be back next time we are in Phoenix!

Now on our third stay at Zen Yard (please see previous reviews) this place just keeps getting better. On our first two stays we were visiting from Pittsburgh, PA. This time from nearby Tucson, AZ. I promise not post again until after our 5th or 10th stays. Kudos to hosts Dale and Eddie for a job well done!

Let's keep it real...Phoenix is pretty darn boring. We were in town for a Wedding Shower, and chose ZenYard because of the Yelp reviews. ZenYard is without a doubt the best part of sleepy Phoenix town. If we hadn't been visiting friends, we would have been happy to lounge around the property all day. We couldn't believe how relaxing it was! We stayed in Cowboy and really enjoyed the feel of staying in a small house--with our own private hot tub! So peaceful. The breakfast was a yummy collection of scones, banana bread, fruit, and yogurt. It was simple (more like a continental breakfast), but plenty satisfying. We especially enjoyed Dale and Eddie's hospitality, as well as the serene outdoor common space. There is a lovely natural gas stone fireplace on the back deck that we enjoyed sipping the complimentary tea next to. The bed was comfy, the room was clean, and the main house is lovely. Don't miss this gem on the north side of Phoenix!

This place rocks!!! Wonderful, relaxed but attentive hosts, beautiful property and convenient location near the mountains and downtown. It's like staying at a small resort with friends who know the area and enjoy suggesting adventures for your day. Also, there are several quality restaurants nearby but we got stuck on Ticoz and couldn't let go; great food and a $10 off gift certificate comes with your room. Finally, really nice, healthy breakfast that took into account my partner's food needs. Love Eddie and Dale and love ZenYard!!!

Such a wonderful hideaway in the Phoenix area. We had the Jerome room which seemed like our own little guesthouse in a little piece of paradise. The owners are extremely friendly and very prompt and attentive. They definitely care about their guests. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. We wished we had more time to enjoy the beautiful pool an facilities but maybe next time. If you're looking for a quite, peaceful, and well put together B&B then this is your place.

Great oasis. Like home, but better! Gorgeous pool. Really simple place, nothing fancy but well appointed and lots of little details thought of. Owners are REALLY nice. Can't wait to fill the place up with a bunch of us from Flagstaff one weekend. Great getaway. You won't want to leave.

GREAT PLACE AND OWNERS, there is only one bathroom that is the only issue, but, everything else is great, there is no SMOKING which is good, and, the guys that own it are great.

I cannot believe it's taken me this long to write a review for the ZenYard! This "bed and breakfast" boasts a luxury pool and spa, a massage studio (with enough space for side-by-side massages), and a friendly, relaxing, visually stunning environment for your pure enjoyment. Our stay here was such a beautiful experience. We will definitely return. The hospitality is warm, and the amenities are top-notch (but in a very mi-casa-es-su-casa kind of way). Before we arrived, I asked about the yoga room, but the owner said it was long gone with a number of other remodels. Bummer. BUT - We DID get massages here. Absolutely incredible! I highly recommend booking one. Oh, and the jacuzzi, yeah, we used that thing every night. Next time we're going to book the bigger room with the private spa (it just seems worth it). The owners at ZenYard will give you five star service, five star room and board, five star massages, and five star banana bread. This place is so nice!

Denny and Mike were wonderful hosts at this LGBT-friendly yoga studio/guest house/ meditation retreat. Don't let the promotional photo fool you - I am a chubby woman not a buff gay man and still had a great time swimming and doing yoga. Staying at Zen Yard felt like rooming with friends with excellent design taste. Mike works for IKEA and their place shows you what you can do with some creativity (made me want to order a catalog right then). You're given a special code for the gate and can come and go as you choose. I stayed in the room by the pool and was intrigued by the selection of books on the shelves, a holistic assortment ranging from health and wellness to novels to major world religions. They had Armistead Maupin, who I'd been meaning to read for some time, so I spent a relaxing evening reading "Tales of the City" and browsing some of the other titles. The iPod dock/alarm clock by the bed was a thoughtful touch. The shower was shared between the two guest rooms, but it never felt crowded. I did yoga with Denny in the morning, a relaxing way to start the day, and enjoyed a dip in their salt-water pool. Fair warning: they do offer a men's naked yoga class some evenings, so be sure to check if it's being offered if you want to join or pass. Overall this was a great experience and I'd recommend it to folks who want an alternative to the cheesy motels you'd get for the same price.

The very definition of B&B.................Bodacious & Beautiful!!! I don't usually leave reviews...But although its been 4 months since I stayed here for a night with my gal...I just had to. This place is that good.!! Dale & Eddie were awesome hosts...Right from the time waiting up for us for a late check in .......to waking up extra early in the morning just to cook us breakfast before our early flight departure. That fresh blueberry oatmeal was just fabulous. The guest room itself was modern & minimalist. Very relaxing indeed, especially with the additional touch of having a zen music on the radio :) Great outdoor fire pit to lounge and relax outside the room. The salt water pool and cabana was fantastic. Infact we were having some much fun in the pool we missed our dinner reservation. Overall an amazing experience!! Great hosts!! Makes me think why spend a mediocre night in a regular run of the mill hotel for the same price when this fabulous place exist right in the middle of Phoenix. Definitely recommended!!...Will be back here the next time I'm in Phoenix.
