Great breakfast and reasonable. Friendly fast service. Hotel right at park entrance. King room was also outstanding but not microwave Remember if you like beer pack it in. The res is dry.

Dinner last night was great. The hostess and our server were both very friendly and expedient. My daughter's hamburger from the kids menu was large and delicious. I had an awesome steak salad and my husband had fajitas. It was too much food for us to finish. Breakfast this morning was just as great. Plenty of food and my coffee cup was never empty. The blue corn pancakes and the spicy burrito with green sauce were excellent.

The only reason to eat here is because it's attached the hotel you're staying in AND there is nothing that is better in Chinle (Church's Chicken is one of the other options). The food just very okay and very expensive for what you get. Also, there is no beer nor wine served. Odd.

Had dinner there tonight with the family as we stayed in Chinle. It was awesome, service was fantastic, people were friendly, food was really good. My wife had the steak salad and loved it. I had the fajitas, and they were fresh and delicious. Good job Garcia

Great place for breakfast. Great cinnamon roll french toast and Denver Omelet cooked in butter. Great sausage and carafes of coffee. Friendly wait staff. Not much else in this tiny town so I would definitely stop here at Holiday Inn because place was clean and nicely appointed.

One of two good restaurants in town. Tour groups and hotel guests keep the place crowded, so plan to wait for a table during peak dining times. The Navajo dishes are probably the best choice.

I asked our Navajo guide where to eat and he chuckled and said "I don't eat out." Garcia's is the only restaurant besides Subway that was open in town. Service is slow, food is not great and it's expensive... But what can you expect from a place inside a Holiday Inn. So next time I visit I'll bring my own food and camp. However, if you here already. The ribeye isn't too bad. Don't get the breakfast buffet.

Dissapointed. I was visiting Canyon de Chelly for our honeymoon road trip and we were staying in the Holiday Inn. It seamed reasonable to eat here but I should have read the reviews first! I ordered the Navajo taco, I had one before I loved it but this was the complete opposite and unappetizing! It was the fried bread with what seemed like canned chili and the lettuce and cheese it was expensive for what was served! I gave up on eating it. The service was slow and we only saw our waitress 2 at the beginning and end no refill on drinks. I ordered sweet potato fries which were better than the taco and a vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup which I could have made myself. It was simply a waste of money and time. My family and I joked around in the morning that the Burger King breakfast we had was better than this place! I will recommend the holiday inn but not this restaurant!

I was a little surprised at the poor ratings, so I had to voice my own. I had the Canyon salad, and it was delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly as I had requested, incredibly tender even though it's well-medium done. Creamy poppy tasting dressing was spot on served with a crunchy and fresh romaine and iceberg salad. There was a plentiful serving of meat, and so much that I had enough for lunch the next day. My dining mates had also ordered a burger with sweet potato yam fries and a Navajo taco/fry bread, and although I didn't try it, the fried aroma that passed through was all I needed to experience. Those will definitely be next on my order!

OMG! What a waste!!! First of all, this place only gets a star because that is the minimum Yelp allows. This place owes me stars!!! My son and I went to this restaurant ONLY because we stayed at the Holiday Inn where the restaurant is located. Despite all of the negative reviews, we decided to give it a shot since we were being picked up early for a Jeep tour. Well, were SO wrong to do this!!! First of all, it took awhile for anyone to notice we were even standing at the front desk waiting to be seated. Once we were seated, we were given menus and ignored for 20 minutes. Finally, someone came over to take our order. We, we waited, and waited, and waited for our order to arrive. Finally, about 30 minutes later, our order arrived. What a disappointment!!! My son ordered the Cinnamon French Toast, and it truly looked and tasted like an Eggo frozen breakfast! I ordered 2 eggs with hash browns. The eggs were the most bland, over cooked eggs I have ever had! No taste at all! And the hash browns were like frozen hash browns. No taste, just like the eggs. Trust me, don't waste your time eating here, you will be so sorry you did. It's true that there aren't many choices in Chinle, but they do have a Burger King, and believe me, Burger King food tastes wonderful compared to Garcia's!!!

Navajo sandwich is good! Share it with someone or take half home, last time we ordered to be shared it was served on two separate plates. Also, sweet potato fries are tasty. My mom had the salad buffet, she enjoyed it (we were there when they had just opened for dinner), good selection. Yes, this is really the best place for dinner in chinle, service can be slow but so far for us it has been worth the wait.

I would give this place no stars at all, I will never eat here again! Everything is frozen, nothing fresh. It's just gross.

Everything was fantastic. Service was quick and pleasant. Food tasted great (enchiladas). Price was reasonable. I enjoyed it very much. I gave 4 stars because of the locals making out loudly at the table behind us....but everyone needs good loving, just not in public. :)

DON'T EAT HERE. GO HUNGRY INSTEAD. DISGUSTING. Here's a tip, a Navajo taco is some overhyped fried dough topped with canned bean chili, some cheese and a bit of vegetables. In other words, DISGUSTING. Even the most desperately stoned and starving person wouldn't touch this absolutely horrid meal. It was an abomination. I was charged ten dollars and could only eat the 'crust'. My dining partner had the spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was Ragu, maybe Preggo. They charged $13 for that. The other dishes were all $15-$30 and I'm guessing, just as criminally wretched. Don't eat here. Go hungry. There is a special punishment waiting for the owners of this place in the afterlife for ripping off so many people over and over again. Yelp, may I give a -52 review? Seriously, this is the worst meal I have ever had.

If you stay at Holiday Inn, kids eat free from the kid's menu. Don't. Even. Think about it. The cheeseburger had meat that reeked. It was disgusting. We complained, they made some fried chicken instead, which was a nice gesture. The rest of the food had no taste or bad taste. I do not know where you can buy a salsa that tastes like old rags - World War II surplus, maybe. Please don't do this to yourselves.

Y'know, the reviews here make it sound like the Spider Woman has climbed out of her rock in Canyon de Chelly in order to punish you for daring to eat in Chinle, AZ. And I only had breakfast here, so maybe something wicked this lunch comes. But I was rather surprised. First off, the place is a lot nicer looking than I expected. I was thinking it'd be a sun-beaten cracked-tile Super 8-lobby kind of atmosphere. Instead it's nicely arranged and carpeted and with a feel of a small restaurant trying to make it in a strip-mall setting. I mean, it's a hotel restaurant, but I never thought to myself, "So it's come to this." You can order from the breakfast buffet, which appeared to be the typical hotel breakfast offerings for around $10, or you could order off the menu. I chose the latter and picked a Southwestern specialty, blue corn pancakes. They came out quick and tasted almost like the ones I had in a lauded Santa Fe restaurant a few days later. Besides the color, the texture is a bit flakier and fragile than typical, and the maize-laden taste was a great novelty. That and coffee and tip for $12, if I recall. So I can't say for lunch or dinner, but you have nothing to fear from breakfast. It's just...breakfast.

My family visited the Southwest U.S. in December 2005, and we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Chinle for a night. It was very late when we checked in, and Garcia's was located right next to the hotel, so we decided to eat here to save time. Big mistake. To start off, everything was quite expensive. This normally wouldn't be a problem as food in tourist-oriented areas generally isn't cheap to begin with, but the food here was just terrible; my parents and I each ordered different items, and all of the them were very dry and barely had any taste. None of us were able to finish what we ordered. This was by far the worst part of our trip. I know a single dining experience isn't enough to judge a restaurant by, but I sure as hell don't feel like coming back here a second time. -- TL;DR version -- Highs: You aren't forced to eat here; convenient location Lows: High prices; food was bland and dry Bottom line: Do not eat here. Do not even think about it. You'll likely be very disappointed if you do. Final verdict: 1.4 stars (rounded down to one)

Expensive and NOT good at all!! We had chicken and steak, vegetables from cans, rice so cooked that it looks like cake,... I think if you have no choice, take the navajo and mexican food, it looked better on our neighbour's plate.

Great setting and service. Throughout my stay I had the blue corn trout, Navajo taco and blue corn pancakes-all delicious and fresh! They also have great box lunches made to order if you're planning on spending the day in the canyon.

This is known as one of Chinle's best restaurants. That isn't saying much when it comes to the food. I come here 3 days a month on business and have had just about everything on the menu. The mashed potatoes are instant, the meat is tough, and the veggies are steamed and bland. However, if you do end up in Chinle, I'd suggest coming here. The service is good and the soup isn't too bad.

i felt there were few healthy options on the menu and the service was slow. the salad bar vegetables tasted like the neighboring salad bar fruits. we were in chinle for two days and two dinners. we didn't want to go back to this place for dinner a second time. that was kind of tough because there are only 2 restaurants in chinle. the junction restaurant is the other option (aside from subway and pizza hut) and it's no super star, but i prefer it over garcia's because it has a larger menu. so the lesson here is, don't expect to eat well in chinle.

One of the worst meals I've ever had. And we waited an hour from the time we arrived. Stay away. Go to the Best Western instead.
