Traveling you never know what you are going to find, but you hope for the best. We passed Hoots and turned around and went back, glad we did. I ordered the catfish and hubby ordered the combo platter. The fish were not breaded much, which we liked, I shared my fish and he shared the brisket....the ribs, brisket,chicken and fish were all very good. I really liked the cole slaw also. Our waitress was a little slow meeting our needs, but the place was very very busy. Right choice for us..

Passed through McGehee on my way down to Orlando for the Citrus Bowl and one of the locals recommended Hoot's. I had a rack of ribs and was extremely pleased. Being from Kansas City I have eaten more barbecue than most would in a hundred lifetimes and I can tell you that Hoot's is legit. Besides the food the service was very good. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area.

BBQ is really good for lunch. Beef brisket is as good as you will find east of the Mississippi. Steaks are good. Not a fan of all the pepper. Bourbon smoked chickens wings are the BOMB!!

Really good bbq, catfish also was really good! South Arkansas needs more spots like this if you Are tracking this way it has a great southern bbq feel and the food won't disappoint!!!

Hoots is a relatively new restaurant but they have quickly established themselves as one of the best in the South. I have traveled extensively and the best grilled salmon is served at Hoots. Their smoked chicken is delicious. The grilled veggie medley side is yummy. Grilled shrimp is always a great choice. There is much more here than barbecue. But of course, the ribs are epic.

The most honest meal I've had on this trip. Ribs were slow-cooked all the way through; fall off the bone good. Took a sweet tea to go. I'll probably never pass through here again but I'm happy with my choice.

The meat was so tender and they have my favorite sauce in a bottle...MUSTARD! I had a little bit of everything, brisket, pork and ribs, the meat was very flavorful and tender. When brisket is this tender you know the one who smoked it understands slow and low and has patience. Good eating here.

Foods ok....but takes way 2 long...and whatever you do don't order anything from the bakery part....While eating we watched a girl touch a cupcakes icing like the icing off her fingers and box it up and give it 2 another woman like Nothing happened....like wtf really. .

The Hoot's Burger, topped with a fried egg, carmelized onions, bacon and cheese, was delicious. And the homemade fries were among the best I've ever eaten. I'll be back to try the barbecue later!

The best steak I have had in YEARS. Wow. I never expected to truly enjoy a dinner in this remote, rural area, so far from a big city, or even to find a bottle of Fat Tire Amber Ale, but Hoot's laid me out flat.

Had a wonderful, flavorful, and tender chopped pork sandwich. The best part was the Italian Creme cake. Talked to the owner, she said they were adding a banquet room.

Excellent BBQ place and the best place to eat in McGehee! I had the brisket plate but I hear the salmon is very good also. They also have a sports bar attached. It's in a converted gas station but don't let that scare you off, the food is very good.

There isn't much going on in McGehee, Arkansas, but these guys make it worth visiting. Definitely a local favorite, THIS is what BBQ should taste like! Pulled pork sandwich that can hold its own over any BBQ place I have been, including Whole Hog Cafe, which is strange for me to say. Tender meat with sauce on the table so you can add to your own taste. They have 2 sauces: one with a sweet n tangy smoked flavor, and the other with a mustard base. The bread that is served with it is toasted on the grill, and has that butter, smoky flavor that is addicting. They also have a fresh bakery in there, where everything is freshly made and portioned huge! I haven't had one yet because I am so full by the time I finish my lunch! This place is a WINNER!

Thanks for the good advice, Danny W, this place was GREAT. I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich and it was amazing, and I'm not a huge BBQ person. My husband had the brisket plate and loved it as well. Friendly service too. Definitely recommend.

Ribs were awesome! A bit of good sauce cooked on, the way we like them. Baked beans were different, but good. I got fries which were only slightly lukewarm when they arrived. Coleslaw was very good. Good service, good food.

I had the smoked half chicken with 2 sides, French fries and baked beans. The fries were nice thick cut Fries. Baked beans were seasoned with cumin and were not sweet. Staff were nice. Bathrooms were clean (stall doors go to floor in women's bathroom). I got a banana pudding to go but carrot cake looked good. Large menu selection and no waiting for table. Order at counter.
