I stopped by Jakes on my way through town. Jakes has what I would expect to be some of the best bbq around. I ordered a two meat plate with chicken and pulled pork and sides of sweet potato fries and baked beans. Also ordered a fried peach pie. Now, I'm from North Carolina and we pride ourselves in our BBQ but I have to say that Jake's BBQ is pretty darn good for not being in the great state of North Cackalacky! And on the fried pie, I was tempted to take some home to some friends in NW Arkansas where I currently live.

This statement goes on each of my yelp reviews. I drive a truck across the country and pull over when I get hungry and stop at a restaurant I've never heard of before. The following are my thoughts on this random stop of mine. Truck parking is VERY limited. I was lucky to grab a spot. This is a counter serve BBQ joint. Order at counter, fill your own drinks, sauce is in dispensers and beans are free. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, fries and mac n cheese. The pulled pork was phenomenal. Smoked perfectly. Fries are cut in house and pretty good. Mac n Cheese was pretty good too. The place is clean, staff very friendly and even offered to refill drinks. The only thing I didn't care for was the sauce. They have 4 options. I tried 2 and both a little strong on the vinegar for my taste but not that bad. Definitely recommend stopping in off I-30.

My family and i spent the weekend in Hope and we found the food here fine. The servers were nice. Store was clean. I think the only complaint would be they were out of ribs which we all wanted to try.

Like many others, I stop at this place because it was the only place along my route to Little Rock Arkansas. I typically get the brisket and ribs so that's what I tried here. The brisket was just so-so. It was really bland but not too dry and it needed more crust, in my opinion. The sauces were good just like standard sauces, nothing special. The ribs were outstanding. They do use a sauce on them but it's not too heavy and the meat just falls right off the bones. It had a great flavor. They also had complementary pinto beans that were outstanding. I always try beans wherever I go but they are never any good. This is the first place where I actually wanted more beans. I also had a fried pecan pie which was outstanding as well but it's just the standard fried pie from a national chain that you can get at several barbecue places.

Big Jake's is good ol Southern BBQ. I am drawn to the NC style, but this was good stuff. Brisket and hot sausage were my favorites. Friendly staff and quick service. I also liked their free relish bar, peppers, pickles, onions, etc. Nice Touch. I was so stuffed I couldnt save room for the fried pies, this looked like a house specialty. If I am forced to visit Hope again I will return to Big Jakes

Stopped at Jakes BBQ 4 years ago and always said if we got back this way from Texas we would come back! Well today we came back with 7 other Corvettes and everyone loved it as much as we did! The meat is so tender and the Fried Pies are wonderful.

Stumbled across Big Jake's and decided to stop in for a quick bite - glad we did! My boyfriend and I ordered the pulled pork, the sliced brisket and a side of sweet potato fries (with no powdered sugar) to share. We also got the tangy and the sweet and smokey sauces. We both LOVED the pulled pork and the tangy sauce was a nice addition. Definitely our favorite combination of the meats and sauces. The brisket was alright, it was slightly dry and not very flavorful. I found myself wishing we had a double order of pulled pork instead. The sweet potato fries were good but I've had better.

Great barbecue and fried pies. Lots of meat choices, and good sides, too. Friendly service. Easy on and off I-30. Will definitely stop here again when traveling through this area.

Counter service and self-serve drinks but a friendly staff. Meat was wrapped in plastic when we ordered so not sure if smoked on-site or at a central kitchen. Davis fried pies were tasty but cold. Expensive for what you get but better than the local fast food options.

As BBQ on the interstate goes this place is better than most. You order at the counter which is normal for Arkansas and they have self serve soda with unlimited refills if thou can drink that much. The ribs are ok the brisket was not too dry and not too moist. Just ok but it fills the hole and the folks there are very friendly and very southern. Not a bad experience at all.

I've eaten at Jake's several times while driving on vacation with the Sea-doos to Branson and Hot Springs. I always enjoyed the brisket sandwich. But the last drive I made through the Hope area, I decided I needed to do a serious critique. Being on a rib quest as of late, I ordered a rib and sliced brisket plate with potato salad and cloe slaw. I dug into the brisket first, bur I was disappointed. Tender and only somewhat moist, there was no smoke ring or smoky taste. I should have been skeptical when i saw them pull a cellophane wrapped brisket out of the warmer. This definitely needed sauce, of which I am only mildly fond of. However, the ribs were great. Bark, smoke ring, smokiness, tender bite, nice rub. What more kind you ask for? No sauce needed here. The potato salad was good, maybe a little overly "mustarded" but I liked it alright. The slaw was good too, with just the right amount of creamy dressing, not swimming in it. The 3 stars is definitely for the ribs, the brisket was barely two stars if that. Oh yeah, and the fried pies are worth the stop by themselves.

While driving home after a long business trip to Galveston, Texas, our group was looking for a place to eat that wasn't the norm. Yelp listed Jake's and were we more than pleased!!! The business was very clean, food was delicious, and the staff was more than helpful. And, not to mention, the fried pies were yummy!!! The staff, especially Trena, went out of their way to prepare fresh fried pies for our long trip home. Our recommendation does not come lightly as we were a group of southern women who cook on a regular basis and it takes a lot to impress us!!! Go visit Jake's you won't be disappointed!!!

A local favorite! The staff is friendly and helpful. They serve brisket, chicken, and smoked sausage. I love the fact that the sauce is separate, being as I'm not big on drowning my meat in BBQ Sauce. I order the small plate on a regular basis. It comes with 2 meats and 2 sides and runs around $7. I usually have enough left for another meal. And if you dine in you might score a free sample of their fried pies...yum!

Stopped here (based on reviews) for lunch during a long road trip. Enjoyed a very good chopped beef bbq and a great, spicy smoked link sandwich along with sweet potato fries. Just as convenient as stopping at a so-so fast food and SO much better!

Were driving across country and dropped by for lunch. Just did the drive through. We had BBQ beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Both were fantastic!! So was the BBQ sauce. Sides of Mac n cheese and sweet potato fries were OK. nothing extremely special. The fried pies were awesome but cold. We were eating around 2 though. Still, the filling was fantastic! Def recommend stopping by!

As Southern BBQ goes, they've got it right! Just a little sweet & a little spicy.
