Fun, family friendly atmosphere. Pizza is great with large portion of fresh ingredients. Made fresh to order like real pizza should be. Great outside venue for enjoying the weather. Staff was courteous and attentive. Lots of TVs for sports action.

After not coming here for a while because of the poor management and indifferent and VERY slow service, we tried it again because we heard it's under new management. Well, the service is still bad and it seems like all the workers there really don't care if you step foot in their establishment or not. The food is OK, nothing special, but because of the management problems we're going to find a new pizza place where people are friendlier. Would prefer to patronize Vestavia businesses, but oh well.

Went for a late lunch on a Saturday. It was pretty quiet but the server was very friendly and accommodating. I had a pizza and it was great. No skimping on the toppings & everything was fresh & good. The crust is thin but somewhat chewy, like NY pizza is supposed to be. Very good. There are sandwiches, calzones, pasta dishes and appetizers on the menu. They also had a nice beer selection with reasonable prices, some seating outside, lunch specials, & gluten free pizzas are available. I'll be going back.

Great wine, great pizza, great beer, and wonderful staff. Always a good time in here. We have loved everything on the menu we have tried, but always re-order the pizza - Johnny's Italian Special and Pizza Margherita. The White Chicken pizza is good too, can't remember exactly what it's called. Some people let their kids go wild in here, but that's not the restaurant's fault. Just get there early for dinner and it won't be as noisy.

Great experience. Under new ownership within the last few months and you can tell. Food quality is improved, service is better, and the place is just more updated. Restrooms are always immaculate and kitchen is clean/organized. My new favorite pizza place in bham! Great pizza by the slice.

I'm from New York and this pizza was HORRIBLE!! Bland sauce, bland pepperoni (not big enough), not enough cheese and crust was mediocre. The sausage should be big pieces of sausage (italian) and it was CRUMBS and had ZERO flavor! Bleh!! The wings. I ordered ONE order HOT, and one MILD. Both came out mild, and I ordered extra crispy. They were NOT crispy.. I have yet to find a good pizza in Birmingham. I do love Tortugas in Hoover though... but it's far for me...

Johnny Bruscos has been our favorite pizza place close to our home in Vestavia for the 7 years we have lived here.. a couple of months ago we had a bad experience when we went to find out that they had run out of pizza sauce ..and was closing early... however, last night I went with one of my girls for date night.. and the place was packed.. new management I was told... and the large pepperoni and extra cheese may have been the best we've ever had ... and the Stone IPA is one of my favorite beers and they have it on tap.. I would give them 5 stars.. however, they still struggle with greeting customers when they walk in the door.. the wait was about 15 mins last night..and no one spoke to up at the podium for at least 10 minutes.. I am used to it there..but I did hear complaints.. but overall, an amazing pie!!

Good pizza- pretty average. But the service was horrible!!!! Took almost an hour for 1 medium pizza. Not busy and the servers were all on their phones. We were checked on one time in the hour that we waited. I'll be hard pressed to go back.

My husband and I ordered takeout from Johnny Brusco's a few days ago on Sunday evening and we both loved the food! It was outstanding. Not to mention having the friendliest staff I've seen in ages, the food was some of the best Italian food I've ever had. We ordered the lasagna and baked zit. Yum!!!! Now, I've never dined at Johnny's and had their pizza or calzones, but my brother-in-law and his family often do and really enjoy it. I can't wait to get food from there again!!!!

Cheap, cold beer and decent pizza. Seems like a good neighborhood family joint, something this Rocky Ridge shopping center was lacking.

Unlike other reviews, I found the wait staff to be friendly and attentive the few times I've been there. The pizza is pretty good too. It could be a four star neighborhood pizza place, but the same ole gripe resounds that it takes way, way, way too long to get a pizza. I can appreciate busy and hand-crafting a pizza, but each time its been 45-50 minutes from order to on the table. Go if you've got $10 of quarters for the kids to play video games while you enjoy several beers.

Great pizza with great sauce. Cheap drink specials and a great family hangout. I have never had bad service. They always go out of there way to welcome us especially when we bring our son.

I have only been once, but I was impressed. The waitress was very friendly, the food was great, and it wasn't too bad of a wait. It did take a little longer than I expected to get the pizza, though. But like I said, wasn't too bad. The pizza really was awesome, it seemed not so greasy like most pizza. And the prices were good. I would love to go back. :)

AAAAAWWWWWWWWWWFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLL service. Never, I mean never, have I ever, had service this bad in my life. They have employed tweedle dee and tweedle dumb as wait staff here and the owner is just as bad. There are only two waitresses for the entire restaurant. Today was my 2nd encounter here at Johnny Brusco's. The first encounter was bad, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt due to their recently opening. My coworker and I went here on our lunch break and were absolutely astonished at what took place. We walked in the door at 12 sharp and sat ourselves, which they asked us to do. Tweedle Dee approached us and took our drink order and food order around 12:05. 12:30, no food. The owner, who just recently got to the restaurant for the day, came over to our table around 12:30 and asked us if everything was ok and clearly he could see that we had NO FOOD. I told him we had been waiting for 30 minutes for 2 Stromboli's and he told me that they were very busy and didn't even apologize and told us it would be out shortly. The owner was NO HELP!! We almost got up and left. Finally, 15 minutes later, out came our food (12:45). The restaurant has an open layout where you can see the kitchen. For the first 30 minutes of being in the restaurant no food went out to any table. It was like the kitchen didn't have anything to cook or something. As soon as the owner walked in everyone got to work. Tweedle Dee and Dumb were running around like chickens with their heads cut off and dishes were breaking in the kitchen. It was a horrible mess. When the time came to pay for our meal we went to the cash register (there were 5 registers and none were marked saying "pay here"). We just walked up to one random computer where Tweedle Dee was to pay. We stood there for about 3 minutes until she acknowledged our being there then she WALKED OFF! I turned to her and said, "can we pay here"? She politely says, "pay here, uuummm, uuuhh, ok. sure". Then she printed out about 10 receipts for us to sign. Some receipts had other peoples names on them and were for different amounts. She said the printer was acting really funny. I thought, yea, like the rest of you people employed here. I didn't give her once cent for a tip. My coworker gave her $1which was WAY to much. As were were leaving the manager walked up to a nearby table and told them that they would be getting their Stromboli's for free since they had to wait so long. I was like, "um, what about me"? I was so disgusted by this place, the owner, and the two Alice in Wonderland characters. I will NEVER go back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
