Terrible place to eat. Food is way too expensive for what you get. Never cooked properly, always over or under cooked. Did I mention it's expensive for what you get? I watched a waitress come out of the kitchen, almost trip over a floor mat that had a corner sticking up. She put the tray down, fixed the nasty wet floor mat that people have been walking on all morning, picked the tray up and went on to serve the food without washing her hands! DISGUSTING! Beyond that the service is polite but that doesn't make up for the dismal food and high prices. The only people who would like this place are tourists who don't know what real seafood is supposed to be

This is an out of the way place on the gulf coast that is a must on your food trips through the area they have the best smoked mullet dip and it was a Very generous portion then came the grilled alligator done simply in garlic butter and salt and pepper the people are extremely nice and make you feel welcome that's important when you stop and you are the only non local there prices are fair for what you get do not pass this one up

We were headed back to Orange Beach and stopped at Baudean's based on their positive reviews. Very cute little restaurant with lots of seafood items to choose. We both opted for their Tuesday's special, which was all you can eat crab legs for $31. The meal included a salad, and a small piece of corn on the cob and white potatoes. We both had the homemade thousand Island dressing for our salad. It was so delicious we purchased a small container to take home with us. They were extremely generous with their crab legs which they were more than happy to bring more if we wanted. The crab legs were served hot and lightly dusted with old bay spice. They were delicious! We ended our dinner with an order of fried brownie bites which were served with a creamy peanut butter sauce. They were wonderful. Besides the wonderful food, our waitress Leslie was cheerful and very attentive. The only bad thing about this restaurant is that it is so far from Orange Beach.

The perfect mom and pop seafood restaurant. I had the Saint Sue special very good. My wife had the fried seafood combo and it was good.Good service, pleasant atmosphere.Although we had plenty to eat we couldn't say no to the fried brownie bites with different sauces not bad.

Unbelievable...... how do people write this place a bad review? We were visiting Dauphin Island for a week and saw this place coming in so decided to try it. The food is completely out of this world. I've eaten LOTS of seafood in my day. This place reminds me of the hundred or so mom and pop seafood restaurants I grew up eating at in North Carolina. Everything is fresh and probably best served fried! That's what we opted for. Seafood platter and the crawfish tail platter. That made for a good cross section of what was on the menu, we ate till we were stuffed, and it was all fantastic. And HOT! Nothing worse than being served cold greasy seafood which this place obviously don't believe in. I mean really. How can someone write this place a bad review? It was a tad pricey but not so much so if you looked at the quantity we consumed. I've paid more and gotten less, no doubt. The only people that could write this place a bad review are Captain D's fans.

I've always passed this place when going to visit a friend. We usually go eat at the Pelican Reef when visiting that friend but this weekend, we decided to try something different and go to Baudean's. We should have went to the Pelican Reef. It was a slow Sunday morning. Our party walked in and there was only one other table with guests and the open sign wasn't even on. We sat ourselves and looked at the menu. Our minds were blown at how high the prices were. Compared to other places in the area, you'd think we were at a higher-end chain restaurant. Service wasn't great. Even though there were only 2 tables in the place, she kept forgetting our orders. After about a 45 minute wait because "it takes over 30 minutes to cook the fish right" we got our food. I had the half shrimp/half oyster poboy. Nothing special. No seasoning to the batter. My girlfriend had the rib-eye (I don't know why she would order that in a seafood restaurant). She said it was tough and bland. All-in-all, we'll probably be going back to the Pelican Reef for our future trips out that far from town.

I am truly torn as to how to rate this place. Considering the location (not that far from the Dauphin Island, right after gross Greer's and Dollar General store ... given the location and the local competition or lack of it, the place is the best in the area; yet, comparing to the Causeway and Mobile seafood, it's ok - not bad but not great. I definitely would not drive all the way over from Mobile for a meal; I'd eat there only if I was in the area. I went there for dinner in the middle of the week. The restaurant was clean, not packed; the price points shocked me (again, considering that I was in the area where most seafood is dirt cheap and there's no civilization; maybe it was tourist season, I don't know) - an average dinner entree runs around $15+. There were 3 of us and we ordered "dinner for 2" ($38 ttl+ tax) which included 2 servings of gumbo (average, no depth), 6-8 fried oysters, 6 fried shrimp (huge), fried crawfish tails, fried fish (tasted good but was not crispy), cole slaw, fries and baked potato (excellent). The food was between average and good. On the bright side, their house wine is $3/ glass and is not bad at all. And they have a full bar also. As for service --- there was no adult to be found. The waitresses looked like high school kids and they could care less if you wanted extra something, or were ready to pay and leave. As a matter of fact, our waitress has stepped outside when we were ready to check out, another one was smoking at the bar and we had to grab the 3rd girl who was sitting at a vacant table chatting with a friend ----- lax, maybe too lax. To sum it up, I'll eat there again if I happen to be in the area, but I will not drive out of my way for a meal there.

This place used to be good, but the last few times I've gone it was horrible and I probably won't go back. We got 1/2 and 1/2 oysters. The oysters were like the inedible stuff you get in a can and the angel's on horseback had bacos (I'm not joking). We also got fried pickles. When they finally came out we were shocked to see that they were pickle spears. Luckily we didn't have to pay for them because the waitress forgot about them and we had to ask about them. Absolutely insulting example of a seafood restaurant on the Alabama gulf coast.

Love this place, Jenny, Leslie and Katie are awesome. Thank you for all the great service. If you go be sure to ask for one of them and they will treat you like family.

It is not what I would call a fancy place. However, the two times we have went the food was good and the service was fine. The price is a little high. The area around Dolphin Island is not filled what a lot of places to eat, but this certainly is a good place to eat.
