I can't really comment much about the place, it's a neat little sandwich and coffee shop. I can't comment much because I've only stopped in about 5 times for iced coffee after class. Good price for it and nice atmosphere. I'll keep going for the iced coffees as long as they are open.

Not impressed at all. Hours are horrible, barista was flippant, and coffee was average at best. I showed up at 1030 hoping for a coffee but the cafe was closed. The sign said open at 9 if they get out of bed then it also said opens at 11. So I walked around the downtown area and came back at 1115 and they were just opening. I had to wait another 15 minutes for their espresso machine to heat up and produce steam. I thought the waiting may be worth it for a good cup of coffee, but was completely let down. If there was any competition in the downtown area this place would never have any business.

I can't believe that a coffee place can open so late, that being 10am. Really 10am, and they are next to the police station too. I would give them four stars because we did like their coffee, but the opening hour turned us off.

The food was good, but not the portion. I don't expect a plate overflowing, but six ravioli was pretty sad. That along with my meager salad took about ten minutes to finish, then I had to watch others eat. Plus, there was this strange smell. Not sure what that was. I'd re comedy it, just get something more substantial.

Food was awesome. Great ambiance. Service was well above average - friendly and helpful. The menu was healthy, tasty, and varied. Highly recommend!

I have been to Cool Beans probably 10 times since moving to Montgomery and like a lot of places here I have been underwhelmed. I really wanted to like it because I live downtown and it is the only coffee shop down here. I gave them 3 stars because their coffee is good. However, their food is just eh. I ordered the Fellini sandwich today, which is supposed to be turkey (with some other stuff) on Tuscan bread. The Tuscan bread was actually stale white bread. It was accompanied with some pasta that was bland and a salad that tasted like it just had some balsamic vinegar over it. The thing that really got to me was, they charged $9.99 for a skimpy sandwich on white bread. Anyway, go for coffee, but I would skip the food.

Nice sandwich made by David, and coffee also. Noone else here today until I was ready to leave. I probly would not return. This place needs to close up and....they dont open until 11am.

This was a decent little cafe for lunch. We were pleasantly happy with the meal itself, although it was a little pricey and the service was a little slow. I really loved the Sweet Potato & Ginger soup. I would definitely give it a second try next time I'm in the area.

Great place for lunch in downtown. The menu varies weekly or monthly depending on what's fresh and available. Although the taste isn't anything to gawk about, the ingredients are fresh and most entrees leave you feeling healthy and satisfied. Most sandwiches and salads are good. I'm not a big fan of the lentil salad but the chicken salad options are better. The daily specials are typically the best tasting, though perhaps less healthy, option.

This place truly is cool. The menu options are interesting and tasty. I was afraid to order pasta because I thought the portions would be huge. My friend ordered ravioli and the portion was just right. Love the salad and sandwich options. The specials were awesome too. The art is an extra nice touch. Visit Cool Beans, you'll love it.

Funky, artisty type place in downtown Montogomery. Excellent muffins and drip coffee. That was all I had so I can't say no mo'.

This is a really cute hip little cafe. They serve sandwiches, salads, and espresso drinks. I ordered a Federico Fellini sandwich (turkey, prosciutto, provolone, roasted red peppers with balsamic vinaigrette), which came with a side of green salad, pasta salad, and some fruit. My meal was excellent but a little pricey for what you can get for lunch at other places. At noon, the cafe is not too crowded, so you'll be able to get a table right away. The ambiance is relaxed and the serve is polite. Also, they are only open Monday to Friday for breakfast and lunch (7:30am to 4:00pm).

nice downtown cafe. hadn't been in a while, was nice to be back for lunch. had the marilyn monroe, yummy salad. would love to see some vegetarian options under the sandwich heading, but if i just want something light, a salad is great!

Cool atmosphere. I had a great walnut raspberry salad here and a stout coffee....the makings of a wonderful afternoon for sure. It wasn't crowded when I went. The employees are attentive and open to answering questions about the menu. Cute place to meet friends for a chat or work in here solo.

Cute place, good coffee. Food menu looks a bit expensive. They make their own cookies - we saw them come out of the oven.

I like this place! I always opt for local over a chain if possible. With all the goings on downtown and more and more people taking advantage of downtown, I do wish they would stay open til 8 or 9pm and on weekends even if just coffee.

This is a great place to watch people (not least the staff). It does seem rather out of place on its mostly abandoned block in downtown Montgomery. The food is good, with fresh salads and veg options, although overpriced (and they tend to cycle through the same few specials). Bagels are good and they even have lox. The service is basically incompetent, but in a sort of charming way, as long as you don't mind having your first two choices sold out and waiting 30 minutes for whatever you order. Even ordering coffee drinks typically requires a good 10-15 minutes while various employees mill around with little apparent purpose. Shari, the owner, clearly has a very particular New York coffee-shop vibe in mind, and works hard to maintain. The younger employees are all friendly hipster types (I've wondered if they were imported from out-of-state along with the bagels).

I absolutely love this place, it mos def doesn't belong in Montgomery lol. The staff is great there and the vibe is amazing, you can even purchase the wonderful art work on the walls, try the cheesecake its delicious I even purchased a full apple pie from here a couple times that was baked in heaven.

Downtown Montgomery was the last place I expected to find such a great cafe. Myself along with 12 other business associates from around the country dropped in for lunch and had a great meal. I had the tomato basil burgundy soup and have got to get a copy of the recipe the next time I can find a reason to travel to Alabama. It was light and refreshing as opposed to the typical cream style. I also had the Grace Kelly Chicken Salad. It was excellent, coffee and a cake - I think 8 layers finished off the best meal I had all week. Free WiFi is a plus also!

How did this hip little coffee shop end up in a square place like Montgomery? They use Monin flavored syrups; their sandwiches and appetizers are unbelievably good; there's good live music Friday nights; they have really neat art on the walls...... They even have free wifi. They get 5/5 for everything except their espresso drinks, and in that area I'd give them a 4/5. Consider the overall score to be a 4.5. (Maybe I'll even change it to a 5)
