This is easily, hands down, the best barbecue joint in Mobile. I've eaten here a few times now and am a huge fan of their food. The ribs are tender and juicy, with a good balance of meat and fat, and the barbecue sauce they make there is fantastic! I've had the baked beans, the green beans, the chips, and the cornbread, and all were amazing and exploded with flavor! The place gets kind of busy, especially on evenings where you can find some decent blues and jazz music. The atmosphere here is always fantastic, and the staff is exceptionally courteous. I came for lunch the other day and had the pulled pork platter, which was out of this world. The pulled pork had a nice balance of seasoning, and drank up the sauce that I generously applied to it. It's always nice when you can sauce it up to your own tastes, and the pulled pork was really good for that. I strongly recommend Moe's. Eat at Moe's!

If you're in the area you'll have your choice of which Moes to go to. We chase between Spring Hill Avenue and Airport Drive. We liked the downtown feel better cause it was more interesting to walk around after dinner. All I can say is if the other locations offer the same quality stuff that this one offered you can look forward to a good meal. Between us on two different trips we had pulled pork, meatloaf, spare ribs, sausage, dry rubbed wings, and pork rinds. Based on those choices go for the ribs, wings, and pulled pork. Bo the the Ribs and pulled pork get rating of good to very good. The wings get an AWESOME.!! I could jeat eat ten of these for a meal real easy. The combination of smoking and the dry rub leads to a crispy skinned wing with a smokey taste and a spicy vibe. A real winner. Another winner on the menu is the cole slaw. This is a no vinegar slaw that is pickled perfectly so that everything crunchy and crisp. When served ice cold you can't find a better slaw anywhere. I love creamy slaw and was amazed at how good this was without a drop of dressing. SO my next dinner may consist of wings and slaw solely. Who would have thunk it?? They only lose a star because the entrees could be hotter. I realize in BBQ joint they are not smoking to order, but you have to find a away to serve better than warm to hotish stuff.

Who knew that Mobile had great BBQ!? We tried this place because our hotel offered a coupon for dinner. Parking was sort of a challenge but not impossible to find near the restaurant. Restaurant had plenty of seating on side patio, and in live music area. We had to seat ourselves because all the waiters seemed to be focusing on the bar crowd... I tried the Pulled Pork, Mac N Cheese, and Nana Pudding. The pork was decent but NC and Texas style has more flavor...they just covered theirs in bbq sauce whoch took away from it. Mac N Cheese was nothing special, and Nana Pudding had barely any consistency. I would give this place 3 stars but they get an extra star for one thing they did right...THE WINGS! The wings are smoked and then fried and rank in top 3 best wings I've ever eaten! The wings werent covered in sauce so they speak for themselves and man they are worth the trip! The ribs were also tasty but I will return for those WINGS very soon!

Ate there today because it was recommended to me. I had the 'Bama Style' pulled pork sandwich meal. Ordered the 'special side' red beans and rice and Mac and cheese. I really liked the food. I'm not usually a big bbq fan, but I'd eat here again. It was flavored wonderfully, loved the bbq sauce, and it was priced very well. The waitress said the red beans and rice were a bit spicy today so I was a little worried as I don't eat spicy foods, but they tasted just fine to me! This location does have very limited parking spaces so I'm sure if it were a busy day, you might not find parking. But I do recommend it for all the bbq lovers.

Stopping through on a road trip. Good move. Cute downtown location. Parking not too bad. Had the Combo with 2 meats. I did the pulled pork and ribs (they didn't have brisket on Tuesday - darn). Still good. Cornbread was really good. Had the baked beans (real good) and a side salad (very good). Twenty taps of beer. Good variety. Oh and had the dry rubbed wings. Glad I ordered based off other Yelpers. Definitely will stop when passing through. Our server/bartender, Ryan, was great.

Passing thru mobile, yelped BBQ & came up with Moe's, worth the stop! Ordered the sausage sandwich it was very good! Would stop again if in the area again. Clean restaurant, nice atmosphere.

Best wings in Mobile. Cool environment/atmosphere. Friendly employees. Great draft beer selection. And bushwhackers. Moe's downtown is a great place to eat and hang out. Big fan of Moe's

I'm big on fresh margaritas and they're hard to find. I've been to just about every decent place in Mobile and found the most amazing cucumber margarita here! And their smoked hamburger, oh my gosh, it must be a Saturday special. Both were simply divine! I can't wait to go back next weekend for another round. They had live music, a fun bar in the middle of the joint and seating outside, optional. The service was spectacular too. I'd give them more stars if I could!

Went to Moe's on Thursday the 22nd to see the Wayne "The Train" Hancock show. Moe's area for shows is very nice and spacious with comfortable folding chairs to sit in, a table to eat at and a great sound system. I had the pulled pork sandwich (huge and delish) with sides of baked beans and pickled slaw (again...delish!). Wayne put on a heck of a show and his band is top notch, not a slacker in the group. If you're into old school country music a la Hank Sr. than you have to go see Wayne the next time he's in town. Hats off to the staff at Moe's for delicious food and a fine venue for entertainment.

First, the service here was fantastic! Our waiter was so sweet (I didn't get his name) and accommodating. The tap beer selection was very good. I had a great peach wheat. And the food was very good. I had the fried catfish and fried shrimp with pan corn and baked beans. The cornbread was delicious. I would definitely go back. Only bad thing was that the light in the women's bathroom did not work.

Overlooked macaroni, undercooked cornbread, disgusting coleslaw, mediocre service and BBQ. Moes is nothing special. I will not be returning.

Had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac&Cheese and potato salad sides. Loved the pulled pork and Mac. Nothing special about the potato salad. Great staff and friendly atmosphere.

Turkey sand which was great. Wings were awesome BUT the coleslaw is not good. I would come back. What BBQ joint doesn't have brisket, beside this place. Also banana pudding isn't home made. It's so so at best.

Great barbecue! We tried the BBQ sampler platter for 2 adults and 1 child. It was very filling. As the waitress said "As full as a tick!" Great atmosphere and attentive staff. We went for a late lunch, apparently they have music there in the evenings. They have a huge stage. Highly recommend this place for anyone.

We were just passing through and wanted some AL BBQ. This place was rated pretty well on Yelp and Trip Advisor and was within walking distance of the hotel. The service was amazing! I think the waiters name was Jonathan. I ordered a beer but instead of bringing me what I ordered he brought me what he thought I might like. This might not work for all people but I thought it was awesome!!! They have a really good selection of brews. I had ribs, beans, and slaw. The slaw was different; instead of a mayo base it was a vinegarette. It was different but it worked. I don't like slaw but I enjoyed this. The beans were good; typical baked beans. The ribs were super tender and pretty much fell off the bone. However, the flavor was lacking. I love ribs and prefer dry rub to sauce; these had dry rub and sauce was offered. I've had better.

Servers are so friendly and attentive. Great BBQ! Love the home cooked sides!! Nice beer selection.

Picked Moe's from Yelp as we were passing through town. Great choice! Ribs were moist and fall off the bone tender. Sauce just right for my Yankee tastes. Shrimp plump and must have been right off the boat. Four of us had 9 sides, and all were standalone excellent dishes. Service was attentive and personable. Will be back!

I was not impressed with this restaurant. We stopped in for lunch on Easter Sunday after we failed at finding a local pizza place. The restaurant was nearly empty due to it being a holiday. Our waitress was very friendly but wasn't sure what was in one of the dishes I asked about. I wasn't impressed with the food once it was brought to us. The sandwich was not very good, the mac n cheese was just alright and the skillet corn had all the things in it that I had hoped it would not. We will not be back to eat if we are visiting Mobile in the future.

Go for the wings. Not the bbq. Cool atmosphere and obviously a local hangout. Very friendly staff. I think saw once that it was rated very high for bbq. I liked it but wasnt really impressed. they didnt even have brisket on the menu. too me that is a big deal. the bbq was fine. no complaints but i wouldnt rave about out. the sides were really good though. great cornbread, great potato salad. the highlight was the wings. the wings were fantastic and really meaty. I would recommend this place to someone looking for great wings but i wouldnt recommend it for overall bbq.

Just wow! This is the best bbq I've had in a loooooong time (and I currently live in TX). We stopped by for lunch one day, and were blown away at how good the food and service was. The server suggested a Fairhope beer that was really nice, and we ordered the ribs, pulled pork, and sausage. Let me tell you, those ribs were AMAZING. Everything was amazing, but the ribs stood out the most. The sauce was great too. All the sides were yummy, and I loved having a big slice of cornbread with my bbq. I will DEFINITELY be back!!!!!

Pretty good barbecue and fun trivia. I got the pulled pork and will definitely be back before I leave Mobile.

The food is decent and the location is in the heart of downtown Mobile, which is great for taking a walk or catching a movie at the Crescent after dinner. With that said, it's a shame that they can't get the service aspect right. It's not even marginal: on two occasions I've endured appallingly bad service. The second incident was so bad that it would result in the server being terminated at just about any other restaurant. I'm fairly easy going and enjoy a good meal as well as a good service experience, and I enjoy rewarding good service. It sucks that I haven't had that opportunity here. The biggest thing that would help would be a host or hostess. Instead, you seat yourself and hope a server notices you, or that you've sat in the section of something who takes pride in their work. Either of those are a gamble. I get the feeling a lot of the staff here have lost a good bit of their cognitive ability to the rigors of following Phish or Panic on tour. As such, the management would do well to not hire so many wookie dirtbags, as this may have something to do with the level of service I've experienced here.

I love this place. I ordered the ribs platter and got the bbq beans and banana pudding as sides. The barbeque pork ribs just melt right off. I'd like the option of a sweeter less tangy sauce. The banana pudding is just okay. It's nothing to write home about, but I appreciate that it is offered as a side. Rock Moe's Barbeque! You keep rocking on with your bad self!

Amazing place! We walked up Dauphin St from our hotel and stopped for a few beers along the way. Mo's was recommended to us as the best Bbq place. Great craft beer selection. Food was super fresh and staff very friendly. I had catfish/ shrimp platter with cole slaw and mac and cheese. Hubby had pulled pork snd Bbq wings. Tasty sauce! Nice hometown crowd feeling...very safe walk home . Love Mo's & Mobile!!! We recommend it highly!!!

Now this is what I call GREAT Alabama BBQ! Their wings are literally the best we've tried at this point in our lives, by consensus. And that's high praise. I hear there's a Moe's Original BBQ in Knoxville and Atlanta. Thank God. Like they claim, they put the "Moe" in Mobile! #Mobile #AL

Stopped in for Fried Chicken Sunday. The honey glazed chicken was tender and moist. I liked the mashed potatoes and gravy but the stewed okra and tomatoes were a bit slimey and too salty with not enough tomatoes. My husband had the 2 choice platter..he said it was "good" but not great. I found the pulled pork good but did not like the sausage. A big slice of jalapeño corn bread is served, I don't like jalapeños but hubby enjoyed it. Parking stinks and the place has a feel of a chain resturant. Service was good and the prices are fair.

Parking's not always easy near Moe's, but even if you have to walk a block or two to get here, it's worth the trip. Moe's has a great selection of pretty much every cut of bbq you'll need; pork, brisket, turkey, chicken, sausage, ribs, it's all here. They also have a nice jalapeno sweet cornbread hunk that comes with pretty much each plate you order. In addition, I LOVE the baked beans at Moe's! Their nacho platter comes with crunchy home made potato chips covered with some jalapenos, cheese, bbq sauce... but the real prize is at the bottom of the plate... a layer of baked beans waiting to be scooped up! They have a full bar, decent beer and wine selection, and a few novelty drinks like the bushwhacker which reminds me of an alcoholic frosty, and a bushwhacker variation using root beer. There's a large seating hall in the back with a stage for live performances, and on Monday's they run trivia in the front bar area. As for the food, aside from the baked beans which garner a full start just by themselves, the BBQ is good. It's not great, and I've definitely had worse. 3 star BBQ joint + 1 star for the beans!

No brisket, are you kidding me? Down in Mobile for vacation, the kids took us here after having been to the one on the east side of the bay last year. This place is a lot larger and a great place to visit, but it is really loud and when we went it was after church with all the non roudies and not even a quarter full. I got what was supposed to be an Alabama style pulled pork sandwich, because again they don't have brisket, and it came with just A pickle wrapped up like a crappy McDonalds cheeseburger. For that small a sandwich $9.50 is too high. I coild have gotten a brisket for that at home. I know the gal wrote it down as an Alabama style, but oh well. The red beans and rice were amazing. The other sides the people had with us were all really good. The sandwich I had was good, but I really wanted the slaw and sauce on it also. I had some banana pudding and loved it. Sauce is tasty but runny, and the tea is weak. I got the home made chips and didn't really care for them, but if you are a home made chip freak they may be ok. My only question is still, what kind of bbq place doesn'have brisket? Now I'm going to have a phobia like I'm in a dream and I go from bbq place to bbq place and none of them have brisket, and I go insane looking for a brisket joint. Then I'm lost, staggering through the desert with tumbleweeds rolling past me and buzzards circling. I'm going mad looking for bbq sauce instead of water and I fall into an abandoned well, ultimately waking up before I hit the ground, my sheets soaked with sweat. All this because I didn't ask if they had brisket first.

Well... I've been here around four times and the best things on the menu are the wings, the catfish, the chicken tenders, and the pimento cheese...... Now that being said... The rest of the menu is a train wreck... It's known as a BBQ place yet it's BBQ is mediocre at best, the side dishes seem to be made by a prison cafeteria manager (Not that I would know / just imagine)... Here are some warnings: #1DO NOT eat the broccoli casserole / cheese sauce is broken and over cooked / brown broccoli and has a rancid acidic taste.. #2 the homemade chips are burned #3 I cannot stress this enough... DO NOT EVEN SMELL the Shepards Pie! It is God awful and looks like dog vomit but tastes worse (Not that I would know...) #4 although our last male server was decent the Bartenders here are arrogant and narcissistic for some reason other than appearance... I don't get it. At least be drop dead gorgeous before you cop an attitude.... These are just average at best girls who think they deserve a paycheck for standing in the corner and ignoring their patrons... Forget trying to get a beer here it's impossible unless you tuck a dollar bill in their pants.... Maybe you get some results then..... I won't be back either.... It's shame... Because this place had such potential but the bartenders are running business away......

OMG!! I had the smoked chicken platter, and that is the most juicy, tender smoked chicken is in my entire life!!! I will highly likely go back before I head out of town--and I will probably miss it when I leave. It is that good!

I'm sold!!! I live in ATL where good BBQ doesn't seem to exist! Crazy right?! Since I lost my father in 2007 and Saucy Q's lost their flare and ability to create decent BBQ, it's become increasingly difficult to find when I come home to Mobile. UNTIL NOW. I am SOLD on Moe's! I ordered wings and ribs with Squash Casserole and Chicken Pesto Pasta to go. My God from heaven! It's back! Good BBQ in my fair city!! This place is a must!!! I have one thing to say Mobilians; "Saucy Who?" That is all....

They have a really nice space here, with a stage for live music too. We went here after work one day for some beers, and we got the sampler. Everything on it was top notch and tender. It wasn't overly smoky in flavor (which I like), but it was as good as generic BBQ gets. It's a touch on the sweet side, but that seems to be what sells in BBQ these days. J Rogers is more rustic and probably better, but if you're in the mood for KC style, they do it well. The place was clean and fresh and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. One of the gripes is that the men's bathroom is in a strange place. You can basically get views of the toilet and urinal from the bar area when the door is opened. They need to put up a screen or something. Nothing good can come from a setup like that. Let your imagination take hold of that for a minute...

I AM CONSOLIDATING TWO YELP ACCOUNTS - I APOLOGIZE FOR THE DUPLICATION. THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON A VISIT TO THE RESTAURANT APR 2013. The smoked chicken is EXCELLENT. And I guess you really shouldn't rate a BBQ place on service. But I will ALWAYS rate a restaurant on service - and I can't imagine being more disappointed in the service at Moe's. There is great BBQ all over the South! I'll get mine somewhere else in the future. Here is what happened. We live Downtown and were so excited to get Moe's. Although we have gotten take-out a couple of times - we've never "dined in" and decided to eat there last night. SImply put - we prefer white meat chicken. He ordered the combo platter (ribs and chicken) - I ordered the chicken platter (half a chicken). We both clearly indicated we wanted white meat and said we would happily pay whatever the extra charge was for that. When our meal came out - with no explanation whatsoever - my husband got a thigh and leg, I had one chicken breast. We both wondered if the waiter had heard our order correctly. SO....we called him over to the table. First - the waiter tried to make my husband believe he had been served a breast and wing that had just been cut into two pieces (REALLY???). And then when my husband said "my wife was supposed to get a half chicken - is that a half chicken?" His answer was..........are you ready for this......"I HAVE NEVER BEEN GOOD AT MATH". WAAAAAAAA!!! We looked at each other in total amazement! When the waiter went to get the "chef" about the problem.....he immediately started quoting "company policy" about white and dark meat. Honestly - by that point I was done. We left laughing about the whole ridiculous episode - but I don't think we will be back!

Pulled pork with lots of sauce...da bomb!!! If you love non-mayo based slaw, this place has it. Fun place to hang with friends in a downtown atmosphere!

The food and service is always excellent, along with the atmosphere. I really enjoy the various daily sides. During a time when Mobile is lacking in good barbecue, it's nice to have a local place with real Southern taste served quick!

I'm so happy they finally opened a Moe's in Mobile. It's about time! I love their BBQ and have had it at other locations many times. Today, I tried the amazing Asian Persuasion wings and a side of beans. The side dishes are all delicious. I can't wait to see the big band room packed out and full of live music. This location is superb.
