Visited Cammie's a couple times with the family and played it safe with chocolate...just so-so. I probably would've written it off, despite the cutesy ol' fashioned ice cream parlor feel, were it not for a chance encounter with their creole praline. Holy mackerel! Absolutely delicious. My dad actually chose a quart of the stuff over a birthday cake this year! I can't speak for the other flavors, but creole praline is top notch.

My husband and I went to Old Dutch for the first time on Friday evening. The atmosphere is certainly nostalgic reminding us of a places we went long ago when we were kids. My cookies & cream in a cone was awesome and hubby loved his sorbet! We will make this a regular treat! Staff was friendly and did not rush us to make a decision. Oh, and they let you sample anything in the case!

Good homemade ice cream. I had a parfait that no-one seemed to know what it was our they never made it before. The crew couldn't have been more that 16 and that was probably the oldest one there. I didn't see anyone who looked like a manager there on a Saturday night. The major downside was that the place didn't seem clean. I never thought that my food was dirty or anything but the place did need a good wipe down. I'm glad I tried it all in all.

This is a pretty good ice cream place. You can get you chocolate ice cream. You can get you vanilla ice cream. You can get you a ice cream Sunday. You can get you a nanner split. Don't nobody care. I got me some peanut butter ice cream on a ice cream cone with some sprankles. Even though the ice cream is old and the dutch people don't want it no more because it was just they leftovers, it was still pretty good.

This place puts the "cream" in ice cream; literally and figuratively. This is, hands down, some of the best ice cream you'll ever have. I can tell you that after only having tried it once because the quality was just that good. It's so rich and creamy. They've been making and serving ice cream for 45 years, according to a sign on the wall. I don't think they've redecorated once during that time. Who cares? I would guess they had about 30-40 flavors to choose from. I sampled the strawberry, which was incredible, but decided to go with the strawberry cheesecake. The hubs was excited to see they have nuts in the pistachio ice cream even though he opted for a delicious chocolate malt. Our total bill was about $6, which I thought was very reasonable. If your little one is screaming for ice cream (don't give him his way just because he throws a fit), but one day when he's been good, take him to Cammie's for a real treat.

After moving to Mobile I was told about Old Dutch Ice Cream Parlor. It lives up to its name. I just bought the peach ice cream and it was delicious!

Okay - I first enjoyed the creamy ice cream here back in high school...and it is still here (just a few years later ;) I love how Cammie makes seasonal flavors that are to die for...today after a nice lunch few doors down a Ashland Place Pub - we walked over are had dessert. Two of us got the Pumpkin Glazed that was the best treat I have tasted in a long time. I will be back for more before the season changes.... prices are very reasonable and the staff so kind.

Love this place! Super friendly service. The guy behind the counter let us take our time, gave a free sample without asking, and delivered my husband's hot fudge sundae to our table (the place is counter service). He even told us we could pay after we ate because we were juggling kids and cones. The ice cream is so good. The creole praline is a must and a fan favorite. The peanut butter chocolate is wicked peanut buttery, delish! Some of the ice creams were a bit soft, hence my four star rating (I wish I could give it four and a half). Otherwise it was awesome. Another reason to visit--the old school Dutch decor. Vintage aficionados will adore the Pennsylvania Dutch wallpaper and hexes, and the wooden clogs game with bouncing balls. What a great place in Mobile!

What a wonderful place! My daughter and I found this place after she injured herself at a local hotel and I had to take her to an ER call so I wanted to take her for some ice cream afterwards so I looked on yelp and found this local place. Thank you Yelp! Super old school, comfy atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff. They'll let ya try tons of samples. Ice cream is homemade and sooo yummy. I am a diehard Bluebell ice cream fan, but this place blows them away. Since we don't live in Mobile, we stop there every summer on our trip Georgia. So sad I don't live closer to them. The last time we were there we met Cammie and after hearing our story about how we found the place she gave my seven-year-old daughter a free t shirt and even took a pic with us. Love, love this place!! Ps if you go make sure to try out the old Dutch little wooden shoe rubber ball game

Wow. Such a good ol' southern variety of flavors made in-house. You can see the giant red velvet chunks blended into the ice cream instantly. The taste: yummm yummmz! The cost: practically giving it away.

  • Dan J.

The Chocolate Peanut Butter is awesome! Great flavor and a great value! They also sell half gallons to take home.

  • Linh N.

Most delicious ice cream ever! I always get an old fashioned hot fudge sundae, and it's always delicious! They have tons of other flavors as well. And the ice cream is super cheap, as well!

Homemade delicious ice cream. A must stop if you are passing through Mobile or reside here. Check out the creole praline. It will rock your socks off.

By far the best ice cream in Mobile. Always great service and plenty of cool treats to choose from and they have a high quality product. My favorite is the chocolate milk shake.

You can go ahead and disregard the negative comments about this place. I live in Biloxi, but we travel to Mobile pretty often. We have 3 children and were looking for an ice-cream shop. Siri put us in route to this little place. Yes its old, but thats because they have been around forever, and it was clean. The staff was very helpful and patient while we tried to get 3 children to decide. I got a waffle cone with pistachio, the wife got a chocolate dipped waffle cone and we got cups for the children. It was really good ice cream. and the price was great. 11 dollars and some change. We never get everyone fed for that price. I was impressed and will definitely visit this place again.

Adorable little spot. I had the salted caramel and it weirdly had some unadvertised chocolate chunks in it, which were unnecessary but still good. I also tasted the mango-peach sorbet, mmm! Staff was sweet.

  • Katie P.

I'd marry their praline something or other ice cream. And I'd have their king cake ice cream's baby if it asked. The staff kind of can't be bothered, but I don't even care because the ice cream is so delicious.

  • Roberto F.

Best Ice cream in the South! Well maybe not as good as Blue Bell but for a small mom and pop shop I'll give it that title. For those of you who know Margie's in Chicago, this place is that good and half the price. For those that don't this place is flat out awesome. Cheap prices and excellent ice cream. Keep an eye out for Holiday specials especially during Mardi Gras when there's moon pie ice cream! So whether your visiting or live in Mobile this place should be on your list of places to come.

Old Dutch is one of the best ice cream shops in the world, but particularly in Mobile, Alabama. Old Dutch has been a staple for Mobilians since 1969. A must frequent for locals and visitors. Old Dutch will live on in your heart forever. Proud eater and former dish washer, Riley K. - Mobile, Al

Best ice cream in the U.S.! Hand made like they used to do it. You will not find a ice cream store anymore like this. It's a snap shot back in time to simpler more authentic time. And Cammie is the most involved business owner in the community always out scooping for any fundraiser that she can attend. Love this lady and her sweet family!

  • Bob M.

Best there is. Olde fashion ice cream shop. Love it. Great prices. Take the kids or your sweetie. this is a real trip to the 50s with flavor from the 2011s! The kids loved it and we had a blast! the help was awesome. Can't say enough good abut it. It is NOT fancy just plain old fun!!!

If your a real Mobilian, you'd know why this place has been in business for decades. I came here on July 20th, which just so happen to be national ice cream day! They had a specials going on, they were passing out toys to the kids (cough, cough and adults who asked) and the staff was so cheerful. Every purchase that was made they chanted "happy national ice cream day!" The staff being so warm, friendly and welcoming, almost made me not want to go home, seriously. I had peach ice cream (made with real peaches I might add) in a waffle cone, all the ice cream here is hand made. This ice cream was so creamy, it taste just like a peach cobbler.

  • John M.

Read a review recommending the King Cake ice cream. Absolutely was a home run. My out of town company grabbed a gallon of it. 4 of us had it polished off over the weekend. Anxious to try the Mardi Gras moon pie ice cream too.

We did like this DQ for a nice noon meal and ice cream however recently the place has been very dirty every time we are there. They need to clean it up and keep it clean.

Me and my mom went there yesterday to check it out I had a chocolate chip in a cup and she had black walnut in a cone we went out had it then came to a agreement, that this is not worth the $5.90 we spent on here. Some there ice cream had another ice cream in it. I'm sorry but if this is the "best ice cream in Mobile, AL then forget it I'll stick with DQ Marble Slab and Cold Stone. I'm know for sure with their little ice cream balls and stale cones their ice cream isn't worth what we paid for we won't be coming back.

Thank God I don't live in Mobile because this place would make me fat!!!! I had a simple sugar cone with chocolate ice cream and sprinkles. So creamy and delicious. High school students work here and the owner is very nice. She's also a grandmother but you'd hardly believe it b/c she looks so young.
