Ugh! What dreadful food. The chicken on the so called "fajitas" was just reheated meat that you can get from your grocery store on the frozen food aisle. Want beans, let's drench that in our salty red sauce. How about some rice, let's soak that in red sauce for you. The lettuce was alright, nothing to complain about there. I ordered white queso dip, which was watery...however it did pour rather easily onto my "fajita" to provide a little flavor. I do understand that most restaurants charge around $2 for beverages, but one of the people that ate with got charged 20 cents for water. Won't be going back again. For the same price, treat yourself to Superior Grill, for the same quality, go to the dumpster behind Taco Bell.

Great, fast, Mexican. They messed up the bill, but made up for it with wonderful attitude and a free desert. Better than Taco Casa in Tuscaloosa.

This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat, although strangely it's not really the best Mexican food. What can I say? I can't help loving this place, I grew up eating here so it's sort of nostalgic for me. So for that reason you may not be as enthralled with this place as I am. It's one of those order at the counter and they'll call your number places. Then you stop at the condiments station to get your forks, napkins, and a bottle of sauce to take back to the table with you. It's located in an old tiny strip mall set up. It used to look pretty dumpy but they've remodeled. I'll take it either way. *------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------* Their chips are thin and crispy with a YUMMY seasoning. My husband doesn't like anything else here except for the chips although he will get the salad. We compete over who can eat all of the fully coated chips out of the bag first. Such a rookie he is. The Speedy's cheese dip is wonderful. It's like that cheap yellow cheese sauce but they add that delicious seasoning to it and I could slurp it with a straw. I don't know what it is about the faker the cheese dip the better it tastes to me, but I'm more of a concession stand cheese dip kind of girl versus that thick Velveeta cheese dip wanna be. Be sure if you want jalapenos you get them on the side because they take up too much room in the container and you get less cheese dip. And then also be sure to share some with me. *------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------* Their meat, is not seasoned, which is probably their greatest downfall and the biggest reason why my husband doesn't care for it. But nevertheless I love the taco salad, request extra meat and this salad will be big enough to share. I also love the burrito wrapped in a big soft tortilla. The nachos are good too but since I usually get the largest bag of chips and cheese dip available I don't get the nachos because it's made out of guess what...the chips and cheese dip. The taco sauce is is a little sweet, a little chunky, and good in large quantities. I usually like spicy stuff but I guess I'm accustomed to theirs too. Like I said, my husband doesn't care for this place so we went there as "birthday girl's choice" for my birthday in February. He's gotten to choose one of his favorite places for his birthday that I can't stand...Waffle House...bleh. You give and you take. The reason it's on my Top 100 Dishes to Try and Little Things list: *The chips and Speedy's cheese dip List: The BEST chips and cheese dip I've ever had.

Don't waste your time here if you want Mexican food. I'm not sure how to classify the offerings here but it sure is not Mexican. If in Hueytown and you want Mexican, go elsewhere, but if you want over salty, bland food then is Speedy's is you best choice. Personally, I would go to Taco Bell first.

The portions are large and the quality of the ingredients is good. Unfortunately the food is what someone might think Mexican food was if they never tasted it.

If you you are looking for authentic Mexican, this is not your place. It's more like Taco Bell but MUCH, MUCH better!! The taco salad is huge and worth the money. The large taco shell it comes served on is always fresh!

I've eaten here since I was too young to walk. Maybe it's the sentiment that sways my opinion, but either way this is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Taco salads and nachos are great. Or just the tacos. Whatever really.

I just don't like the food here. I have eaten here a few times because I was hoping to find something on the menu that was good. I just haven't been able to do so. It's a shame because it's so close to where I live.

Not sure why this place still has ANY business at all. It was good as I was growing up but it's a very bland version of Mexican food and since the management changed years ago the quality and portion size has gone way down on most items. Taco salads and nachos are huge but bland. Think canned cheese dip for the nachos. Yuck. Their fajita chicken and beef is tasteless not marinated or grilled either. Their beef is unseasoned for their burritos and tacos. They could make make a few improvements and be a decent place if they wanted to buy somehow the locals still pack out this place so its doubtful it will happen.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
