Very impressed with this restaurant. We decided to go here tonight to try it out and I'm sure we will be back, at the very least, to try their sister restaurant next door (known for their pizza). The prices were nothing to complain about (and I complain a lot about prices) we got beers, an appetizer, cup of soup, and two entrees. Total was right at $65. That's a lot of food for that total and we have left overs. The crawfish bisque was delicious. The crawfish pasta was excellent and HUGE portions. And my wife got the bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with crawfish! We loved the food and the atmosphere makes you feel comfortable in business casual OR shorts and a t shirt. Great spot!

Great pizzas and also a grilled tuna sandwich that is as good as I have had anywhere in the country. Always friendly...a perfect spot for lunch or dinner!

So good! I had triggerfish (huge piece) that has an amazing crab stuffing and some bread crumbs on top. It was baked to perfection and served with a green bean/tomato mixture and some rock star mashed potatoes. I also splurged and had a piece of their strawberry cake! YUM. With a whole portion for leftovers, my total bill came to $17 including tip. Come here!

Incredible food. There were three of us and we all had a different appetizer and main course. Everything was superb. We will definitely be back!

Guidos was recommend by a fellow Elite Yelper and her husband. Guidos is on point! The menu is on a chalkboard, which makes it easy for the staff to erase dishes as they run out. The full menu consisted of everything to include steaks, several choices of fresh fish plates, pasta dishes along with apps, soups, salads and desserts. They also have an extensive list of bottled wine and beer. For starters we got escargot and crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. Honestly it was my first time eating snails, but it was delish served in a garlicky broth with artichoke hearts. For entrees, the ladies ordered OMG lasagna which had crabmeat, shrimp, and artichoke in traditional lasagna covered with melted white cheeses and marinara sauce. As for the MEN, I ordered baked triggerfish and my bud ordered fried grouper with an Alfredo sauce on top. All the dishes came with homemade mashed potatoes and fresh mixed veggies. All of it was very good! For dessert we got bread pudding, I think 4 people can eat on one plate. The slices are huge and you get two of them for only $4.95...... The staff was very knowledgeable of the menu and easily answered any questions we had. I will definitely revisit this establishment. In the dining room an artificial Christmas tree is mounted upside down from the ceiling. I am very curious what it looks like once it's decorated for the holidays. This is truly a hidden gem in Daphne. I highly recommend. There are a few tables outside and they do accept credit cards.

Came here with some friends for dinner. They kept talking about how good it was. Since there were three of us from out of town, made the trip over. Started out with some bread with olive oil and balsamic. Yum! I ordered the Mediterranean shrimp linguine. Excellent, basil, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts and plenty of shrimp. Very tasty. My hubby had the eggplant lasagna, said it was the best he ever had. He's allergic to crab, so they put it on the side so that I could have it. Kept hearing about the bread pudding and the large serving you received. We opted for the key lime pie to go. Dissapointed by the portion size when I opened the box, but very good. Only negative was the live music. Good music, but too loud. We were unable to talk among ourselves.

Problem 1: this site is misleading because there are 2 parts to this restaurant. Whomever, design/set up this particular site should have noted there is a 2 part to restaurant. We thought we were going to dine in and to find out we dinning on the pizza side Overall, the food ordered wad good. Large portion. Very cozy. Prices reasonable Problem 2: finding the location UGH the weather was bad.

Never have had a bad meal there and the menu is always changing. It does fill up pretty early so go before 6 for best seating. The bread pudding will fill three and is exquisite! (Really. Save room for it.)

Quite possibly the best lunch deal on the eastern shore! Excellent selection of unique Italian offerings, served with side dishes like garlic mashed potatoes and green beans, in quantities big enough to share, priced in the $8-$10 range. I know, sounds crazy, doesn't it? As one who believes that many restaurants compensate for poor quality with ungodly large quantity, I was initially skeptical, but it was apparent that Guidos doesn't cut corners. I'm not sure I get the need for side dishes with Italian entrees, but I guess it's just what they do. The "OMG Lasagna" was full of crab, shrimp, mushrooms and artichokes, with two sides that I certainly didn't need, but how can you say "no" to garlic mashed potatoes? My co-worker had Eggplant Parmesan. Here again, amazing quality, great flavor & huge serving, with two sides. I'm anxious to try them for dinner sometime to take advantage of their vast wine selection, many from Italy. Doubt I'll get out of there for under $25 for two, like I did for lunch, but I'm okay with that!

I ordered the $6 caesar salad to start and it was one of the worst caesars I've ever had. Not tossed in dressing, had old, dry sundried tomatoes which were just nasty. I then ordered the Scallops over Risotto. The scallops were very good, but the overall flavor of the dish was just not good. I just ate the scallops and left the rest. Husband was happy with his chicken/potatoes/veg. The servers were friendly, though very slow. Each came by and asked us the same questions, so it was clear there was no communication. The service and food really needs to be a lot better for the prices they charge.

We visited Guidos due to the yelp recommendation and I must say, I wasn't disappointed. The night started with us struggling to find a parking spot (a good sign although frustrating), and we ended up having to park next to the smelly dumpster. Upon entrance to the restaurant, we noticed that the restaurant wasn't packed which means parking would REALLY be a nightmare if it was. However that was the only low point of the night. (If parking is the only bad thing than that's pretty good! ) The decor was tasteful and unique reminding me much of my time in Europe. The Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling was a nice touch. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken. I had the crawfish soup as an appetizer and the trigger fish for my entree. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted phenomenal. My only critique is I wish they allowed customers to pick the sides. My wife had the pork shnitzel and it was pretty close to the original that I had in Germany. The pork was breaded and cooked perfectly, but the sauce was a little thick and the veggies were a little undercooked. All in all good food though. The waitresses were very nice and even brought beads to help quiet and entertain my children (quite a nice gesture). The price was a little high but not horrible. The range was between $16-$20 a plate. I will definitely return to Guidos but probably not frequently since I'm cheap and only like to pay $10 or less for my plate. :) But still was a pleasant experience for a special occasion!

First visit there and was blown away. The beer selection was mundane, the old standards, no true craft beer selections. And that was the weakest part of the experience.... The bread they brought out was incredible, the appetizer was a spicy mozzarella ball, fried with pesto on top. Perfectly done, the crunch was perfect. I had a chicken parm lasagna (chicken was chunks of fried chicken) and smashed baby red potatoes. I love my food, I'm a big eater, and I could not finish it.... Was not "traditional" Italian, it was do much better.... Get some unique craft beers, and it will be complete.

Wide variety of choices. Always have a pleasant experience and never leave hungry....My favorite Eastern Shores restaurant. Looking for a great dessert their Tiramisu is the best I've had in the states. Made from scratch.

Don't let the sign fool you! At first glance, the restaurant looks like a fancy dining, but when you walk in, everything looks so casual. Live music is definitely a plus. The menu consists of a black board and chalk. The staff updates the menu items as it run out through the evening. Food was delicious. Appetizer: Calamari was neither greasy nor heavy on batter. The downfall was no ranch. The bread is herbaceous and olive oil is available on the table. I would love to see some fried garlic added to the olive oil as an option. Dinner: My brother and his wife ordered a cajun penne pasta dish, to be split in two. We could not believe the size of this dish. The kitchen split the meal and yet the meal is proportioned family style. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with crab. It was not greasy and very tasty. I would have loved some ranch. My hubby had the marsala chicken. It was served with whipped mash potato and marsala mushroom. The Marsala mushroom was divine. This was a great place to visit. One of Daphne's hidden gems. Will be back soon!

My husband and I have been to Guido's twice for dinner and we were quite impressed with the food. We also liked the cozy ambience and friendly service. The first time I had the oyster penne in a spicy cream sauce (with bacon, spinach, mushrooms and green onions). The oysters were perfectly cooked and the dish was wonderful though large and quite rich -- I could only eat half of it and took the rest home. My husband had the crab lasagne which he thoroughly enjoyed -- the side of mashed potatoes with the lasagne seemed like an odd choice to us, but they were tasty. We shared an order of bread pudding for dessert -- a huge portion, but perfect for two, and it was also very good. On our second visit, I had the bacon-wrapped, crab-stuffed shrimp, my husband had the chicken marsala and our friend had the scallop risotto -- all quite tasty. We've also had pizza at Cousin Vinny's next door ("The Vinny" -- sausage, papperoni, smoked ham, peppered bacon, peppers, red onions, mushrooms, kalamata olives, mozzarella, smoked provolone and asiago) -- we'll definitely be going there again.

I have written more reviews on Guido's than any other of my haunts. Part of the reason is because this restaurant continues to baffle me! I really, really want to love it because it screams to me, "Be YOUR place!". You know the one - an off-the-beaten-path that will give your guests a memory. Its character and its bones call to me, but we just can't seem to click. Tonight we were an awkward table of five with all sorts of tastes and temperaments. It made us a bit difficult as a tabletop to handle, but the first of three servers did a good job and I tipped well for the effort (however, I did not need to hear about the shared tip system or the logistics of the business). During the drink order we were told there we not pickled onions at the bar for a martini, but they would be glad to have the kitchen chop some. Was that ignorance or an attempt at humor? Our group debated it throughout the meal. At some point the bartender came and actually slammed a small plate of lemon "twists" after someone mentioned we were given wedges to which the waitress responded the "bar was too busy TO PEEL THE FRUIT". It was not a big deal until that plate was slammed down and the bartender stalked away. It was pretty awful, but we were into the dipping bread and martinis, so it was laughed off. Everyone ordered a main course and they all were varying degrees of good. All were served at the same time and fresh from the kitchen and all were pleasing. We had the veal, the schnitzel, the stuffed shrimp, salmon and a pasta. The only common negative was the heavy hand on salt. So I am confused because we had all sorts of wait staff, the food was good but we all suspect some non-functioning burn elements in the kitchen due to the lack of even doneness on the dishes and the lack of an inspired dessert menu or of an offer of coffee in an Italian restaurant. I am not going to give up on Guido's. The atmosphere is very homey and welcoming and the staff is generally good. If the Guido's side of the restaurant could make a bit more of an effort to make me feel a bit more adult and with a sprinkle of being a special moment to be remembered it would go a very long way with my patronage.

Ordered take out for lunch. Their version of chicken fettuccine is made with mushrooms, not the norm. Chicken slices in it were very tender. Mahi with pineapple salsa looked great served with mashed potatoes and green beans. My kids split the chicken marsala, it was delicious! They also gave me a whole container of bread. Can't wait to go back!

The only reason this restaurant is getting two stars instead of one is because they comped our entire check. Read on to find out why. Since it was my last night in town before moving to Tuscaloosa, my family took me out for a nice, fun dinner. I chose Guido's because I'd been there before and enjoyed it. What followed was not a nice, fun dinner AT ALL, and I regret suggesting this place. Here's the list of disappointments we suffered in chronological order: 1. It took a long time for someone to take our drink order, even longer for someone to actually bring the drinks, and even longer than that for someone to take our food order. The dining room was busy, so we thought nothing of it at the time, but in light of all the other things that happened, it's worth mentioning. 2.They didn't have the appetizer we ordered. They didn't have the SECOND appetizer we ordered. They did have our third choice (the mussels), but they brought it after our entrees came out. A server told us it was on the house and apologized for the error. The mussels were gritty and fishy. We didn't eat many of them. 3. The shrimp in my Mediterranean linguine were dirty. They hadn't been deveined. They were disgusting. The entire dish was disgusting, to be honest. Most of the ingredients seemed to be from a can and were extremely salty. I was outraged that a reputable neighborhood Italian restaurant would feed me an $18 plate of DIRTY SHRIMP and canned ingredients. I sent it back. 4. When I sent my entree back and explained why to the server, she said the kitchen would remake it. I told her not to let them, because I was too grossed out and wouldn't eat it, and she just said "Okay" and walked away. She didn't even ask if I wanted to order a different dish. Later she tried to tell me that the linguine is "normally" served that way, and that if I wanted my shrimp cleaned in the future I would have to make a special request. Unbelievable. 5. When a server came to our table and listed the desserts, I ordered a tiramisu. Two minutes later, I was told that another table had gotten the last one. That was the THIRD menu item they had run out of, and it wasn't even 8:00. 6. An inspection of the check revealed that we were charged for a glass of wine that had neither been ordered nor drunk. A bit ironic, since I would have really liked a second glass of wine, but no one offered me one. My empty wine glass sat on the table for most of the dinner and was never acknowledged, cleared, or refilled. 7. After asking why we were charged for an extra glass of wine, the server replied, "I don't know; I didn't ring it up," and stormed off. 8. I requested a conversation with the manager and was informed that the manager "went home sick." The servers claimed there was NO ONE for me to complain to and suggested I fill out a comment card instead. When I insisted on speaking to the person in charge, they offered to bring out "the cook." I told them that was unacceptable. I wanted to talk to the MANAGER. It was a busy Saturday night. Unless the manager had Ebola, she/he should have been at the restaurant. Upon realizing the magnitude of our party's frustration, one of the many servers told us everything would be free and begged us to come back someday. I looked her right in the eye and said "I will never come back." I put off writing this review for a week because I wanted to reflect the experience first, but I'm positive now that I'll never return to Guido's. Any kitchen that sends out dirty shrimp has no business serving seafood. Period. The waitstaff were disorganized, inattentive, and incompetent. We had five different servers and none of them knew what was going on. Many times I glanced around the busy dining room and didn't see ANY servers ANYWHERE. Where were they? What were they doing? Why didn't they erase menu items from the chalkboard when they ran out of them? Why did they offer me a dessert they didn't have? Why did they charge us for things we didn't order? Why did they try to pull one of the cooks out of the kitchen when I complained? Why wasn't there a CHEF? Why was everyone so rude? WHERE WAS THE MANAGER? What a terrible dinner to share with my loved ones before moving away. I had no entree, no dessert, a few bites of a mediocre appetizer, and one glass of wine. The fact that it was all free is the ONLY consoling factor in this entire travesty, and even that doesn't feel like adequate compensation. You can't put a price on memories. Ugh. Shame on you, Guido's.

Met an old friend here for dinner, I'm not even sure how to explain how happy my taste buds are. We had a large party, 8 people, wine was very good, as an appetizer we ordered the stuffed mushrooms, WOW we knew right from the start that this was going to be a special meal. as I said 8 people and we all ordered different items. I ordered the Grouper, I have had it twice in a week and this time was a little better than the last. Tiramisu and bread pudding for desert, not what I would have ordered, however it was incredible. I unfortunately live 600 miles away, otherwise this would be my regular weekly dinning out experience. Prices were good, food was good service was good, atmosphere was good, what more could you ask for?

Guido's was recommended by several family members who live in the area. Upon arrival, the parking lot was packed and we had to park in an adjacent lot. Walking in to Guido's I was surprised that neither Guido's was crowded nor the pizza place they own next door. I was happy to see that on a Wednesday, they had quite a few tables full (definitely locals, which is always a nice sign). Started with the fried green tomatoes, which was huge! The waitress said that they cut up once whole tomato, which makes up one order. Along with the yummy fried green tomatoes, and the tasty bread, it was enough to keep our party of 5 satisfied until our tasty food came out. Although I've had better crabcakes in other restaurants, I highly recommend the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp and their grouper. Both dishes were huge and left us with plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. I also want to mention their great service and nice selection of wine they have on the menu and on a table up front (I mean, it's always about the wine, right?). I can't wait to return to Guido's and try the other tasty sounding items that are listen on their huge blackboard menu.

Love this place! They have specials on different days of the week so its always a fresh feel. Everytime we have gone in - the service has been great for us and the kids! Driving by, you almost have to stop because it smells so wonderful! Dont go to Daphne without eating here!

Best place to eat and fellowship in Daphne. Sandwiches and pizza are absolutely great... HIghly recommend the Italian Sub with the roasted potatoes... Make you go home than slap your dog... best sandwich I have ever eaten...

Absolutely one of the best Italian places in the Coastal region. Their stuffed mushrooms were amazingly good and their shrimp and grits were awesome also. You get what you pay for and then some with regards to the food overall and service is spot-on; add in great ambiance and I would easily say this would compete with some of the places I've been to in NYC.

This is our favorite restaurant on the Alabama coast. The food and service are outstanding! The prices are very reasonable. The staff is very knowledgable when it comes to the food and the wine. I love they way the menu is on a big chalkboard since the availability of fresh seafood changes daily. The quality of the food is remarkable. The seafood is phenomenal! It's fresh, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sauces are incredible as well. The veggies and sides are delicious. The escargot appetizer is divine! A big plus about this restaurant is that if you're looking for a fine meal and your children want pizza, they can actually order from Cousin Vinny's menu at Guido's. The two restaurants operate under the same roof. We eat at Guido's and Cousin Vinny's frequently and we've never been disappointed. I will go as far as to say that Guido's is one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at, and we've enjoyed many fine meals in many cities.

Great atmosphere and wine selection. Perfect place for a small gathering. The menu was larger than expected for the size of the restaurant. The only questionable part of the experience was a 20 percent gratuity (which wasn't easy to find on the bill). We had a small gathering of 6 and one of our friends brought a half-sized bottle of champagne to celebrate a work accomplishment.

I honestly didn't want to come here when I saw it had a 5 star rating because I *seriously* hate to be the one to break that for a business. Ok... so here's the thing: I'm kinda mad at Guido's. I mean, seriously. I have to go back to Atlanta and never again experience one of the best meals I've had in years?! This is the devil's work, y'all. When I tasted my entree - Triggerfish with a crab crust, the creamiest mashed potatoes ever to touch my lips and perfectly sautéed vegetables - I cursed the fact that I'd eaten so much of that freaking amazing appetizer. Escargot, artichokes and lemon in a garlic cream sauce. Seriously? I want to slap someone's mama...definitely not Guido's. In reality I'm a little embarrassed at all the "oh my god"s and "hell yeah"s I muttered under my breath while eating here. And I'm just pissed off that I a) couldn't finish the delicious meal and b) that it wouldn't be well-suited for a hotel fridge. Trust me when I say that if I ever come back to the lovely Daphne area I will be here every damn day. The end. (Thanks, Guido!)

With a steady stream of patrons walking into Guido's and its neighboring sister restaurant, it was clear, that this was THE place to have a meal while in Daphne, AL. Those unfortunates who continue to dine at Olive Garden are missing out on generous portions and value priced meals, so prepare properly when ordering, as the portions are large. Located in the quaint, but small old town section of Daphne, Guido's decor is simple - checker board tablecloths, hanging plants and a handful of prints on the walls, until you notice an upside down Christmas Tree in the corner of the restaurant, where I choose to sit. At the time, the tree was decorated in red, white and blue, in time for the upcoming July 4th holiday. My lunch started with a cup of crawfish and red pepper bisque, which was hardy and chock full of crawfish. For my main, I had ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp, stuffed with crab. At less than $10.00 for my entree, this was a considerable value, since it also included smooth mashed potatos and a vegetable side, although I had subbed my veggies for the corn casserole, which was delish. My entire meal, including constant refills of my iced tea was a mere $18.51. Service was prompt, friendly and quite animated. A great family or group resto.

Food is good and the service was good but not what I expected. I had the grouper with crawfish and andouille sauce and my wife had the crab lasagna. I thought it odd the lasagna came with mashed potatoes seems to be an odd pairing. Finished off with the apple walnut pie. It was devine and was the best part of the meal! Was glad we went but for the price we paid there are other places I like more.

My wife and I went here for dinner on a Friday night. It wasn't very busy and we were able to get a table right away (the lack of customers should have been our first clue of what was to come). When we were seated, a waitress came and got our drink order, but didn't come back for a long time to get our food order. The menu is written on a blackboard, but we were sitting close enough that we could read it without getting up. We both ordered a Caesar salad to start. The salad took a long time to come out. It seemed like we waited forever! After waiting, the salad wasn't that good and the dressing tasted like it came out of a bottle and not homemade. Almost immediately after our salad arrived at the table, the entrees came. I ordered the filet mignon and it came with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. My wife ordered the pork schnitzel which also came with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. The best thing I can say about the food was that it came out hot. My filet was under seasoned (it was pepper-crusted, but didn't really have any flavor) and under cooked. I ordered it cooked medium and it came out medium rare. It was fairly red in the middle and not pink like it should have been. My potatoes were very salty and left me thirsty. Thankfully refills on my pepsi were free! However, it took a while to get those refills because of the mediocre service. My wife had a similar complaint about her food. The pork was actually cooked well, but the breading was so salty she couldn't eat much of it. The potatoes were also too salty. Overall the service was average and the food was not to our liking. Additionally, it was very loud and while there was live entertainment, you could barely hear it over the ambient noise. We tried this restaurant at the recommendation of a friend and unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. Maybe it was an off night or something, but unless something dramatic changes we won't be returning.

Easily the best food in Daphne. We love to eat here whenever we are in Daphne - And cousin Vinny's (next door) is the same owner and the food is just as amazing!

WOW! This place is incredible. I searched YELP for an Italian restaurant in the Daphne area and chose Guido's based on 2 reviews. This place is the best Italian restuarant I have encountered. Not a chain, but a true Mom & Pop establishment. The menu is written on a chalkboard on the wall. The prices are reasonable and the food is memorable. My wife ordered the Stuffed Shrimp. This was a WOW dish! I could not prevent myself from stealing bites from her plate. I ordered the baked spaghetti, also, good. I cannot wait to be back in Daphne to eat at Guido's again. Awesome place.

I am a local. You will not be disappointed. If you have any room left after the main course split the bread pudding among four. Perfect. There is a local centamillionaire who picks up food here regularly. I watch him swoop in and leave with a big bag of goodies. Eat the food and finish off with bread pudding and you will understand.

One of the best restaurant anywhere. The food same price as olive garden but the plates over run with food. My cousin vinny is next door same owner. Both are great my family loves the places.

Great spot!

Come here!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
