Big, BBQ sandwiches - especially if you order it "bama style" (pulled pork, bbq sauce, pickle, slaw, and white sauce on a toasted bun). I enjoy their smoked wings and spicy dipping sauce, too. There's crap written in marker/chalk all over the walls and booths. I like the tree in the middle of the restaurant. Try a bushwacker w/ an extra shot of 151 for dessert!

The best BBQ in Auburn. The meat is actual real meat. Not sketchy meat. The sides (especially the Mac & Cheese) are really good. Seating is pretty limited and parking is basically only street parking so that's pretty tough. Get the white sauce with your BBQ. At about 7 or 8pm it turns into just a bar.

Atmosphere is 5 stars. BBQ pork is 2 stars. The pork had no BBQ taste. Had to have plenty of sauce. Would come back to drink a beer but not necessarily eat.

Fun atmosphere and good food. Stopped in for a couple of drinks one night and then again for lunch on the way out of town. Very happy with both experiences.

Great BBQ...the best in Auburn!!! The sides are outstanding as well; both in proportion and taste. I'm a Memphis native and this is VERY close...well done, guys...

I have been coming to Moe's BBQ ever since I came here in 2010. There's a great atmosphere around the place and the food is pretty good. I'm not the biggest eater, so their kid's portion is a great choice for me. You get the meat of your choice, one side, and a drink for $5.50! I definitely recommend the mac n' cheese or the hashbrown casserole whenever they have it as a special. Prices for the regular platters are pretty decent for the area considering all of the food that you get with it. Look out for their lunch specials too... the thanksgiving sandwich is delicious! While during the day it works as a family establishment, at night the place turns into a bar with drink specials that range from $5 bottle of wine night to $3 well night. Overall I recommend it as a great Auburn hang out spot.

I've eaten at several of this chain of BBQ joints and I have to say, this one was the least of the bunch. They don't have the same menu featuring specialty items and the pulled pork was very middle of the road. Seems like they are as much about being a bar for the college kids as they are about making excellent food. If you are there for the drinks have at it, if you after excellent barbecue look elsewhere.

Moe's is a solid option in Auburn. It is a fun bar, although you have to cut off your arm to get a drink if it is crowded. Good music, wine night is fun, overall a good bar. As for the restaurant, it is also pretty solid. I come here for the wings and the yellow gatorade on tap. If you don't get the wings, you are making a mistake. By far the best thing on their menu. The BBQ sandwich is pretty good, and so is the turkey sandwich, but man, the wings are where it's at. The sides are ok--just classic mac n cheese and green beans and such. I enjoy the atmosphere, and it is a good spot to watch a game. Again, if you come, do yourself a favor and get the wings. It's that simple.

Great atmosphere and awesome food!! I love BBQ and they had some of the best and awesome sides to go along with it.

We went to Moe's Sunday night to pick up supper. They were out of everything except pulled pork and some turkey. We tried to call ahead of time but the line was busy for over an hour. We ordered fried pickles and didn't get them even though we paid for them. We also didn't get our potato salad that we ordered. Tried to call back to tell them and still, the line was busy. The girl at the counter was busy visiting with friends. I asked for a tray for our drinks and she came out and started talking to a friend. I stood there looking at her and finally behind her, I spotted a tray for drinks and I interrupted their conversation and asked if that was my tray and she said yes and we left. The food we received was good but I was aggravated about losing our money and probably won't go back. I don;t think they care though because they are so busy.

I convinced my boyfriend that he had try this place because they had the best pulled pork in Auburn. Like all girlfriends, I was right. He said he had never had such great pulled pork in his life. We also got squash souflee and some cornbread but the pork of course was the star of the meal.

Been to Moe's while in Auburn a few times. It has been very consistent, and the prices are pretty reasonable. 5.50 for a decent sized sandwich is a winner in my book. Pork sandwich is my usual go-to . . . And I have not been disappointed. Great smoke flavor and incredibly tender. I am very picky with my pork bbq. Additionally, the service has always been great. Decided to go with a smoked chicken sandwich one day, and did not know they loaded it up with slaw and pickles, which I do not like. I took it up to the counter, they switched it out, and were incredibly polite about it. I was able to give the chicken sandwich to someone who needed it. Moe's will continue to be my pit-stop Alabama highway 85 bbq joint.

Good lord this place is nasty! First of all, the food quality is low. I grew up in California and this does not come close to par. Secondly, the stupid freaking kid who made my burrito bowl dumped a giant ladle full of queso on it and acted like it was normal. It was literally the grossest Southwestern dining experience I've ever had. I complained and they said that they wouldn't charge for the cheese. They definitely did, though. - lying service staff - over salted food - incompetent staff - this place is really gross Do not come here. Better off dining elsewhere.

Moes has always been a great place to have a drink or some BBQ in downtown Auburn. It's not a unique local spot, but it feels like it is. The location is great, and there is a large window for people watching. They have a good selection of beers and an okay selection for cocktails (don't expect anything special - my friend tried ordering a mojito and a Moscow mule, but they didn't have the ingredients for either). The bartenders are all very cute but not particularly enthusiastic. Whatever. This place is great for lunch or afternoon drinks, and it turns very lively at night. I would recommend giving it a try.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well in the case of my week long visit to Auburn and frequent stops at Moe's Original BBQ I'm not insane at all. I not only went to Moe's several times, but I got the same thing over and over again and fully expected the most delicious wings I have ever had in my life. It was the wings that won me over in a big way. I assure you that I am quite sane, but admit I did develop an addiction during my time in Auburn. Let's start with my first introduction to Moe's in downtown Auburn. I found street parking not far from the restaurant around 5 PM. I had heard from word of mouth and my handy Yelp app that this was the place for me to get great barbeque. I love great barbeque and seek it out in any city I visit. I was greeted by a couple of armed goon's at the door. Just kidding, there were two young Men serving as security that informed me there was a wing special going on until 9 PM, but probably no seating. The place was a complete mob scene and just plain crazy. No seating, standing room only and it just seemed like utter chaos. I learned it was World Cup on the TV with USA playing and understood what was up. I was brave enough to work my way through all of the college kids and was fortunate enough to find a seat at the bar. I had no expectations of anything resembling good service, but I thought the atmosphere was worth checking out and I really wanted to try the food. I was not at the bar a moment before a female bartender asked me what I would like to drink. Granted there was a lot of help behind the bar, but still this was impressive. The vibe was electric with a jammed pack crowd that would have constant outburst and screams as the action of the game played out. The young crowd was well behaved and enjoying food, drink, the company of friends and of course the many TV around the dining room. I loved the atmosphere of the crowd, but the decor had a Greenwich Village feel with it's artsy walls. A real brick accent wall on the booth side is what I will remember the most. The wall is painted with funky characters and overlapping graffiti everywhere. Think of eating inside of an artist barn, strange but that's all I got. There is that much wood every where you look. From being at Auburn the week I realized that the pitchers of beer are dirt cheap, I mean like $5.99 for a pitcher of Blue Moon which is basically giving it away in my book. However, I did just settle on getting one draft and asked what the recommendation would be for a first timer. She flat out said the wings are a must and get a combo of mac n' cheese, moose desert w/ side of bread. I said go for it and was up for anything. My beer was in front of me in seconds along with a water which I did not ask for. Any waitress with her salt knows to bring water even if not asked for... which I usually do, but forgot. This gal was on top of it and friendly as heck. The food was out in ten minutes which I thought could not be true and questioned if it was even my order, but indeed it was. I wasted no time and dug right into the wings and found them to be delicious. Plenty of meat, not greasy, a slight toughness and crunch, I was totally stoked to continue eating right through the basket. But how could these wings get even better... with two dipping sauces that's how. So, I first tried the red sauce and found it spicy and not to my personal taste. The second sauce was lite, mayo base and a marriage made in heaven for me. The mac n' cheese was just okay, not really a fan. The moose desert had a nice deep chocolate flavor, but nothing spectacular. The bartender checked back with me several times to see how I was doing, provided water refills and extra napkins. In general she had full command of her customers every need. I found her so attentive to not only me, but others. The place was loud with World Cup Cheering, so crowded by now you literally could not move. However, I was loving the fact I was in the middle of this spectacle and enjoying Moe's scrumptious wings. I ended up going back no less than three times in five days just for wings and was quite lucid I assure you. Forget about the sides and other entrees I had a serious crush on their wings! Each time I went in the place it had a big lively crowd which is always a great sign. I felt the service was also on par each time. For as busy as they were the place was kept pretty clean too. I have issue with the Men's restroom and a broken mirror which is a safety hazard as this is a place for kids earlier in the evening. Great atmosphere, awesome vibe, terrific service, incredible deals on pitcher beer and awesome wings. That is what kept me coming back anyway.

Love this place. Toomers tree right in the middle of the restaurant is awesome. Food is good... I am a yankee so BBQ isn't something I can talk much about, but I liked what I ate. and how can you not talk about the bushwhacker when commenting on Moe's!! I mean it is pretty much a wendys frosty and you have a shot of 151 ontop!! They are dangerously good.

Having been to the Atlanta location near Georgia Tech several times, we thought the food at this downtown Auburn Moe's was much better. This Moe's isn't solely about BBQ. It's a fun place to hang out, watch games, drink beer if you'd like in a upbeat and lively spot feet from the Auburn campus. As for the BBQ, it's solid, but not life changing. While the pulled pork is probably the best meat they offer and the turkey is fair, I'd stay away from the puree banana pudding, which fell far short of typical Alabama expectations. Meanwhile, the jalapeno cornbread and corn skillet is pretty good. As for the value, it's fair. They give you a decent of food, and your best value comes from ordering a platter, which comes with two sides and a drink. Keep in mind, you came here for the atmosphere. The BBQ is a bonus.

Moe's BBQ is very good, but they were severely understaffed and we had to wait an hour for our food. The smart people were calling in their (large) orders for take out, which compiled the problem. Also, the bartender was not friendly. I asked for a mint julep (Kentucky Derby day) and he just said "no." LOL no what?

I stopped here for lunch one day on my way out to Chewacla State Park. I found the food, atmosphere, and service to be pretty good. The sauce and sides were a decent but the meat was exceptional. I'd definitely come here again.

I spend fair amount of my weekdays traveling to new places and rely on Yelp for guidance for choosing restaurants. I prefer trying local establishments that give me feel for vibe and good area offers. I have to say this place hits the mark. Awesome food, excellent service and reasonable prices while providing a feel for the local scene. While I'm older now wanted a place that had the Auburn University feel. And this place hits the mark. I ordered ribs with wings and coleslaw and Brunswick Stew. All were very good, well cooked, and reasonably priced. Add in the college scene bad was great choice. I will come back...great place!

This was excellent BBQ, and this comes from a non BBQ girl. Not huge portions, but just enough to fill you up. I had the shrimp "Moe" boy, family had brisket, pulled pork, & turkey. Sides: Moe's fries were amazing! Spicy and crisp. Jalapeño cheese grits were very good (not excellent-not as creamy as I prefer). Collard greens were somewhat bland, coleslaw was marinated, not creamy, which I was happy about. Oreo mud pie was very good, and the banana pudding was as good as homemade. All in all, a very good lunch. BBQ sauce the thin kind, kept warm in a crock pot up front. Tasty though. Looks like it's a good hangout for students in the evenings. Good for families at lunch. I'd definitely go again if in town.

This is a hard choice but I really believe that this place has the best BBQ in town. Psst..don't tell Price's or Mike and Ed's. There are several BBQ places in Auburn and they are mostly all good but Moe's, even though it's not really true southern BBQ, is really good. The side options are above and beyond the other options and that is partly what sets them apart. I will say my favorite is the Mississippi Mud Pie (the one I get every-time). The green beans, baked beans, and cornbread are my other favorites but they rotate several others that are good as well. I get the BBQ sandwich every time and my wife gets the shrimp Mo-Boy almost every time so those are two great options but basically everything on the the menu is good. Great atmosphere and very neatly decorated inside! Very cool Colorado theme about it! All in all you won't be disappointed choosing to eat here!

The meat is on point, sides are pretty boring. We stopped in here on our way out of town after a football game. Thankfully they were still serving food and doing it quickly! I think we spent 10 minutes in line and another 10 waiting on food; not too bad considering everyone and their brother was in Auburn for the game. We ended up sharing a table with some people we just met because the place was already packed, and the staff was getting ready to remove tables for dancing (I assume?) after the live band takes the stage. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwich meals ($11/each including a PEPSI fountain drink. No Coke - lame!), mine with slaw and baked beans; boyfriend's with mac and cheese and Mississippi Mud Pie. The sandwich was on point: the meat was moist and flavorful, and the vinegar-based BBQ sauce was really good. We thought they didn't put a lot on the sandwich so we went back for more, and that made the sandwich better. I put slaw on my sandwich and loved it. I probably wouldn't have liked it as much without the slaw. The baked beans were pretty standard, I guess. No bacon pieces from what I could see, but they were so generic that they reminded me of canned grocery store beans. By itself, the slaw was pretty good. I could tell it was apple cider vinegar (my favorite kind of vinegar) based and topped with pepper. The mac and cheese was so disappointing! It tasted too much like blue box grocery store mac for me to like it. No homemade flair whatsoever! The Mississippi Mud Pie was just as disappointing: chocolate pudding with some dough (?) interspersed inside and cheap chocolate syrup on top. I'm definitely passing on those next time. In the future, I'll stop in for the sandwiches and meats, but I'll opt for the sandwich alone and maybe some more slaw. Overall, it wasn't worth the price considering we tossed half of our sides when we left.

Great place to eat and drink. After 9 it becomes a bar where there usually a live band Thurs-Sat and activities such as bingo and trivia during the week. Never disappoints. Can't beat their specials every day from 4-9 either

The food and the drink specials are pretty good. Drinks not on special are pretty pricey. The chicken wings are my favorite. I am giving this place only 3 stars because of the consistently slow and unfriendly service. Seriously, the food is already made people, why does it take so long to throw it in some styrofoam??

  • Ben T.

I had the pulled pork with beans and macaroni and cheese. Portions were big and the BBQ was really good for the price. Dont leave this place without getting a bushwacker. I dont want to even tell you what it is, just get it! Overall a fun BBQ bar with great prices.

    (3)
  • Robert B.

Platters are a good value for the price. The sauce makes up for the shortage of flavor in the pork. Make sure you check out the side specials. The grits and broccoli salad were awesome!

BBQ= No Bar= Yes. Moes stops serving food around 10, and then has live music (most nights) and turns into a good hangout bar. Can grab a booth and hangout, and don't have to worry about the sloppy drunks at the others bars. Oh, and Moes has bushwhackers, $7 for a pretty small single size. But they're pretty dang good.

  • Neal C.

I would say this is the best barbeque in Auburn; however, it is also the most expensive BBQ, thus I can't give it 5 stars. Excellent pulled pork, really good ribs and baked beans, sweet potato casserole is also really good. The sauce is good and the portions are decent, but to pay like $8 for a pork sandwich and beans when Byron's or Prices will serve the same size for $4.50 is tough to justify. Really cool location and atmosphere though.

Not a fan. At all. There are some amazing BBQ joints in Auburn and this place just doesn't come close to measuring up. The atmosphere is great and I WANT so badly to love this place. But I don't. The sides were okay (although the Mac and cheese tastes fake) and the banana pudding was okay. But the BBQ itself left a lot to be desired...and I left a lot sitting on my plate. In all honesty, I've only been here once and I'm open to trying anything again. Maybe I'll be able to update my review with something a little more positive.

  • Gary J.

Pretty good food and portions. I'm not a big fan of the sauce though. A couple of different choices of sauce would have helped. The side items were not your standard stuff, so that was cool. The atmosphere is pretty neat and being in downtown auburn is a definite plus.

Moe's has the best barbecue in town and my favorite drink - the bushwacker! It's great for a family meal during the day but also has a great atmosphere at night with bands, darts, etc.
