Great BBQ joint. The place has a really hometown atmosphere. Nice decorations and plenty of seating. The food was good; portion size was very generous. The pork wasn't the best I'd ever had but that maybe because it seemed more chopped than shredded (of the two I'm partial to the latter). The fried chicken was great so my brother told me. All in all, I'd definitely come back. Great food, great quantity and for a great price. Don't forget to order sweet tea either! It's southern as a bell!

I has the meatloaf and it didn't disappoint. Great service. Food came out very very quick and hot. Overall great experience. If you do visit Jacksonville Alabama this is the place to go for lunch.

I've been going to Betty's FOREVER! I love them! The food is so good and definitely is southern home cooking. I usually get their chicken livers smothered in gravy and onions, fried green tomatoes, and mac-n-cheese. Umm, can you say delicious? And their cobbler is to die for! The waitresses are very nice and I always feel welcomed. Only thing I don't like is that, every time I go in there, it seems as though they change their prices. But other than that, I'd recommend Betty's to anyone who asks about it!

The BBQ was pretty good. Honestly I'd lean more towards three stars, but gave it four stars because we enjoyed our waitress who made fun of us and gave us a hard time. She was a crack up. The BBQ pork was good, a little dry but nothing a little extra BBQ couldn't fix. Teh ribs were meh and were just too dry to recommend. The catfish was tasty. The baked beans were delish and the macaroni & cheese was less than stellar.

Gotta give'm 5 stars. Service: 5 stars. Very nice people and love the accent. Pulled Pork: 4 stars. On its own it's pretty good. I used a lot of sauce which made it a little better. BBQ beans: 4.5 stars. Very good almost 5 stars. Potato Wedges: 5+ stars. Perfectly done. Mac & cheese: 4.75 stars. Light and fluffy with perfect cheese flavor. Cornbread: no rating because I don't like southern style cornbread. Price: $ almost too cheap for what you get. Overall they have amazing food and you get enough to loosen up the belt a notch.

Pulled Pork and Fried Green Tomatoes INCREDIBLE... Side dishes we had were mac and cheese, corn bread and bbq bread. Those were very standard basic and nothing special. But the meat and Fried Green Tomatoes were so so worth it. Prices are extremely reasonable. Approx. $8-$10 a dinner and can always add addl meat based on ounce servings. Very casual, service was very nice and helpful. Very southern hospitality.

No idea why this place was as packed as it was. Weak sauce, and very poor pork with rubbery beans and corn that were out to the table less than five minutes after we ordered. I appreciate speed, but there didn't seem to be any pride in the quality you put on the plate. Service was decent but I've had better BBQ at a Shoney's.

Betty's is always packed at lunch but regardless you normally get seated as soon as you walk in the door. The staff is super friendly, and you never have to look for your server. The BBQ and lunch specials are above average, which makes it better than most of competition in the area. You can't really go wrong with anything you order, but the coleslaw isn't my favorite. It's finely minced and too sweet for my taste. 4 stars for service and consistency.

Nice folks here. Pretty decent food. But be warned...this is not a BBQ place. The pork was not pulled pork but chopped ...with no bark or smoke. Can't be sure but if it was bbq (slow smoked) they managed to remove all traces. Other items were just fine AND one of the few places that still serve good hush puppies.

After it being highly recommended by locals we tried this Hometown BBQ Restaurant out. Ordered Pulled Pork Sandwich... Expected better from Alabama.

I typically don't take the time to review anything, but good lord I had to make time for Betty's. I was passing through Anniston with one of my employees to meet with a few executives at a Memphis based client. His friend recommended the place based on stopping there for years when he visits for the race. Best food decision I've made in a long time, and best down home cooking I've had since my family reunion. Best people too. When we arrived, the greeter apologized that their CC machine was down due to AT&T outage, and could only take cash or checks. My friend and I looked at each other disappointed as neither of us were carrying more than a couple dollars. When we shrugged and started to leave, the owner who was sitting at one of the tables said "we don't turn away customers" and offered to feed us on the house. We were standing there in disbelief. We were hesitant, but sat down. I figured I'd run out to a bank machine and grab cash while we waited on the food. On to the food... Had their BBQ plate with 3 sides, DDFGT (double dipped fried green tomatoes), green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I followed that with their lemon ice box pie. I could barely stand after cleaning my plate, but it was all worth the misery! The food was so good, that we decided to stop back in on the way home to Atlanta. This time I had the sampler platter with BBQ, fried catfish, Chicken, and three sides (GB again, DDFGT again, and macaroni and cheese. Had to have the pie again. All of was nothing but fantastic. On the service..... Patty on the first night, Kristen on the second, with a dose of the lady that cooks, and the owner (Betty's daughter, Betty I believe is retired). I have never met kinder and more generous folks, had this level of hospitality matched with terrific food before in all my years of travel. Do yourself a favor and stop by Betty's if you ever have the chance. Don't forget the pie. Betty's Team - if you read this, thanks again. Going to try and bring my mother over to Anniston when she visits for Thanksgiving. Missing the food already even though I need hours on the treadmill to cut the pounds I packed on in two days :-)

Yikes. I'm flexible with food but this was not good. BBQ plate with two sides. Only thing worth eating was the fried green tomatoes. BBQ pork was over dressed with sauce that tasted like it came from a bottle. Cole slaw was NOT homemade which is inexcusable for a BBQ joint. Waitress (very sweet and kind) added a slice of tomato and a slab if raw onion. Tomato was fresh. Onion was cut upwards to three days ago. I know. I eat a LOT if them. I did not eat this one. Wow. Food came out 1 minute after I ordered. I wish they had taken their time and put some pride behind the plate (plastic plate with dividers) presentation. I would have sent plate back if I thought I would get something different/better. Avoid Betty's when you are in Anniston.

What can I say , Betty's is a institution . I have been away for a time but just recently rediscovered Betty's Bbq. The sign was enough to bring back memories from my youth. Goal Post. Hats off for the renovation ! Fried green tomatoes are the best I have ever had. Bbq is the best in Calhoun County. I tell you to step up and go with the open face roast beef with a side of the green tomatoes. If you do feel free to thank me.

Roadtrip: Driving across country, with my friend, to her retirement destination in Canton, GA After being on the road for many hours, we decided to exit Hwy 20 in search of some BBQ. Boy did we get lucky!!! Betty's is FANTASTIC !!! My friend had the ribs and I had pork bbq sandwich....yummmmmmy. The fried green tomatoes, mac&cheese and turnip greens were the best! Funny story....After my friend finished her ribs, she asked our wonderfully nice waitress for some wet wipes. The waitress looked at her and said in her beautiful southern drawl...whet whuaaaat? LOLOLOL!!! So my friend said they are little individual packets of moistened towelettes. Waitress says...oh no hunnie, we don't have those here. But I can take some of those paper towels on your table and run them under some water for ya heehee

Great place for a home cooked meal. I really enjoy the vegetable plate and variety of vegetable to pick from. I went for lunch one day. The place was nearly packed. I was greeted an seated immediately. I had my drink within minutes of seating. The food arrived piping got and delicious just a short while later. My waitress, Brooklyn, was very fast and truly friendly. I will make sure to eat here again and again.

I came to Anniston, AL for work for a couple of days, all I kept hearing was how good the BBQ was, so I had a one track mind when I got here, I was eating BBQ all the way. I did some research and most people agree that Betty's was the place to go. On my way there I had brisket on my mind, when I got there I was surprised to see that they did not have brisket as a menu item (bummer), so I ordered the pork plate with 3 sides. The plate comes with a 1/4 portion of their pulled pork, BBQ bread (Texas Toast) or cornbread. The sides I ordered were Mac and Cheese, Potato Wedges, and Fried Green Tomatoes. I have to say it wasn't great but not bad. I like to get a little bark in my pulled pork, plus it didn't have a real smokey flavor. What saves this place is the service, It was outstanding. The food order was put in and before I knew it the food was at my table piping hot. When I went to pay the bill the waitress asked me if I wanted a "To Go" drink, I said sure, so she gave my a huge cup of sweet tea for the road. The place looks timeless and has a lot of character, I think on my next trip I am going to sample one of the other BBQ places to give Betty's a fair comparison.

Just passing through town... wow, this place was great! Best fried green tomatoes I've ever had. Apple sticks were really good. Oh, and the BBQ was great. Decor is what you would imagine for a BBQ restaurant but bigger and cleaner than I expected. Staff was very nice, helpful. Service was very good.

Betty's food is below average. The quality of food has deteriorated. I recently had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meatloaf was dry and lacked flavor. I have dined at Betty's several times. The chicken and dressing has been delicious in the past but isn't as good now. The service has been like a Jeckyl and Hyde-either good one visit or awful the next. I don't go to Betty' anymore.

I grew up in Anniston and I've been going to Betty's BBQ pretty much my whole life! I haven't lived in Anniston since 1995, but every time I come home to visit my family I must go to Betty's. My favorites are the pulled pork sandwich, the apple sticks, the chicken finger sandwich, the BBQ salad, and my absolute favorite: the peanut butter pie. The service is always super friendly, and they have the best sweet iced tea around.
