Everything I look for when it's lunch time and I need good Chinese, served really fast. New remodel makes the seating so much nicer. Not the cheapest place I've ever eaten but it's Juneau so expect it. The sushi rolls are impressive in size and fish is fresh. I'm a sucker for their Mongolian Beef (spicy is not over the top). Even when it's noon, the service remains among the best in Juneau.

Best sushi in Juneau. Also has a limited menu of Chinese and Japanese dishes but not what I would consider authentic Chinese or Japanese.

I don't know why people think their sushi is good. I've had a lot of sushi and theirs is not that good and it is way over priced. Their sukiyaki dish is tasty, but isn't real sukiyaki as you would find in a Japanese restaurant. (I guess this place is Korean owned?) Staff is friendly though, so it's worth a try.

3.5 if I could... I walked halfway across downtown in the rain to get here under Lonely Planet's recommendation and it was a nice enough experience. As forewarned, the place is a hole in the wall without much decor or ambiance. I parked myself at the bar - it was dinnertime - and I was the only one sitting there. The tuna ngiri was exceptionally fresh, and the Alaska roll and Juneau roll were both fine. The spicy tuna roll was really just a tuna roll with some spicy sauce on top, which was kind off odd. While the prices seemed reasonable (for Juneau, at least), I still managed to rack up an almost $40 bill and I wasn't even boozing - I guess those small plate orders creep up on you. This was a fine place and definitely good enough for enjoyable sushi at reasonable prices.

My husband and I come here for date nights every once in a while. Our favorites are the beef undon, and the heart attack, a spicy roll that is an appetizer. We also try different sushi most of the time and have fun trying new things.

I have been here twice since it was recommended by a few clients. Both times, the portion sizes have been small, the prices much higher than others in town, and the sushi was amateurish. The composition of flavors is not very good, the sauces were too liquidy and the rice not sticky so the rolls just fall apart. My husband said it's the worst Japanese food he's ever eaten. Try Little Tokyo downtown instead.

Excellent caterpillar roll, miso and almond chicken! Best of all owner and employees are very personable!

I like to eat at Seong's about once a month for a quick lunch. I get the Mongolian Beef. The serving size usually covers an extra day at least and I can put chow away. Occasionally, my wife and I come for dinner and enjoy the sushi. For Alaska, it does well. Of course I haven't had a lot of sushi in the lower 48 so its hard to tell. The service is great and the crew has been around for a long time. All in all a fun place to enjoy.

The sushi isn't worth mentioning, but the cooked items on the menu, like the Mongolian beef, aren't bad.

Utter disappointment! I visited Seong's twice - before and after reading the raves from other reviews. Service on both visits was dismissive. I guess I'm not seeing the big picture, as the place is flooded with regulars during lunch hour. While we were set to order our rolls (Crunch and Alaska, as one yelper recommended) and some nigiri sushi a regular walked in. The waitress recognized the regular and asked, "Broccoli beef?". The regular confirmed. After witnessing that brief moment I decided to throw broccoli beef into my order as well. The average cost for a pair of nigiri here is $5. They're the cutest little buggers I've ever seen for nigiri. They're also the biggest rip-off for $2.50 a piece. And the seafood tastes no fresher than the other sushi joints in town. I wouldn't recommend the nigiri here. There are cheaper places in town to get nigiri (and at a decent size, too). The two rolls yelper suggested, however, were impressive. I'm a nigiri person and usually don't order rolls. The portions were certainly larger than their nigiri so I felt a little better about my money spent. The tempura shrimp in the Crunch Roll had a nice, sweet taste. The Alaska Roll, with cooked salmon, was warm. It was a good kind of warm and not room-temperature warm. With that said I conclude that while Seong's nigiri is not so hot, he prepares his rolls well. As for the broccoli beef, it was run-of-the-mill stuff. While it had a nice assortment of vegetables and a good amount of beef, the sauce was overpowering and tasted like the powdered stuff in a packet. Not my cup of tea. Oh and speaking of tea, their hot tea goes well with their rolls. Lunch came close to $40 for two. Eeks! No bang for your buck here. But if you really, really want to try this place, try their rolls.

the sushi is really overpriced for small portions, poor service and taste. sushi is my favorite food group and I expected being this close to the water it would be fresher. I've tasted better in Wyoming!

I love SUSHI.... I have ate sushi at a lot of places..... although I no longer live in Juneau and do not miss from there, Seong and his family are the absolute definition of SUSHI! They are beyond friendly which completely makes the finest fish-quality I can recall really come together! Seong and his family will always be a bar to measure sushi from....! I sure miss eating there.....such a perfect place!!!!!!!! up to 3 times per week and not once did I ever have anything but the best....for over a year!

I go for the sushi which is always fresh, but there are lots of cooked to order meals that are wonderful! The staff is very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have.

Nice staff, clean restaurant. A bit on the pricey side considering the food is just okay.

After a long hike at Perseverance Trail we decided to stop here for dinner. We had heard they had fantastic mongolian beef and so we thought we'd give it a try. We were famished and were pleased when we walked in that there weren't a lot of people in there. We ordered some sushi and one plate of Mongolian Beef. I am a Juneau Newbie and so my husband and I have been on the hunt for good sushi. Well.. it's not here. After 30 minutes we received our Mongolian Beef - this was fantastic! (And the reason I gave it 2 stars) After an hour we received the 2 sushi rolls we ordered. An hour? Really? There were only about 10 people total in the restuarant and we were sadly disapointted with that service. Once we went to eat the sushi rolls, they completely fell apart in our chop sticks. Making it necessary to eat with a fork to scoop up all the rice. The sushi taste was awful - mushy and flavorless. I couldn't even hardly eat them. I do NOT recommend the sushi here. I will however go back for the Mongolian Beef and maybe some of their other dinner meals, but I will only order them as take out. The service we received was awful and with such a small crowd in the restaurant, we don't know what the problem was. So if you do want to eat here, make sure you order it before you go and get the Mongolian Beef!

Seong's Sushi Bar was alright for a low budget on interior decorating. There was a dragon roll on the menu that I wanted to try but would only be available for dinner as I was there at lunch time and so I didn't get a chance to try it, they didn't offer to make one for me.

I gave this place a few shots and at first I was not not impressed. However after I became a little more familiar with their menu I discovered which items are delicious and reasonably priced; Juneau roll, tempura roll and my hubs likes the spicy tuna roll. As far as the dishes go the cashew chicken was pretty good too. As long as you know what to order this place is good.

This is by far my favorite sushi joint in the world. I am not a big fan of raw fish so I get the Alaska rolls and the crunch rolls. Mongolian beef is fantastic as well. I fly to Juneau to come here, seeing family is secondary.

Seong's Sushi was a revelation. Honest. Get the salmon. Get it cooked, get it raw, get it in rice, get it to go. Doesn't matter. It was all like butter.

This is a great place to get sushi in Juneau, especially considering all the fresh seafood available at its doorstep. Hint: try anything with salmon here. My favorite part is that they're traditional enough to deny patrons a knife for the sushi rolls, and that everyone gets chopsticks by default. This is another one of those places I frequent every time I pass through town.

I finally got to have some Seong's Sushi after their recent remodel. Meh. Not horrible, not any good either... and HOLY SMOKES IS IT EXPENSIVE. Canton House is better. The staff were super friendly, though. Gotta love that.

First time here since they remodeled. The place looks refreshed. We had sushi so we were at the bar...the fish was fresh fresh and the Itamae kept slinging us samples of octopus, cucumber salad and finally topped us off with an orange dessert! Top notch fella! They load every roll with healthy helpings of fresh fish unlike there competitors who have rice garnished by salmon or tuna etc. I'll be back guys!

Nothing special and way over priced for having fresh seafood readily available to Juneau.
