For those of you looking for mochi or the boba balls. Menchies is a national chain. It's not Norma to see these two things at frozen yogurt shops. Due to the high Asian population in anchorage this is why you see some have them, usually ran by Asians. Just FYI! Not knock menchies just because they don't have these items. It is frozen yogurt flat out. This place has the most flavors and interesting ones at that in Anchorage. That "Cable Car Chocolate" that a rival carries tastes just like your eating the cable car grease or something! I LOVE the fact that they have Hot Fudge (real stuff), Hot Caramel, Hot Marshmallow, Hot Reeses Peanut Butter and there is one more...can't remember. I also love that they have Cool Whip! They may not have as many berries and what not as other places, but come on its froyo! Love :) The price is great here and they do have a 15% military discount, ask about their royalty card too :) Actually its virtual, just give them your number!

I like this place. It's clean and they change out the flavors about weekly but keep the most popular flavors everyday like vanilla, chocolate and tart. This most recent time we came in at 10:30pm (they closed at 11pm) and it was busy...yet they had the closed off half of the seating area as we walked in, so we grabbed the last available table. There were a group of people who came in after us standing around eating their ice cream looking for any place to sit. They never found seating so after standing around, they walked out. So 4 stars for early cleanup on 4th of July weekend, not best business practice.

This place is great! I think they are a bit pricey at over $0.50 per ounce, but they have wide variety of toppings. I've been 3 times this summer and there's always at least one topping, in the cold area, that as run out. DONT GET THE CHOCOLATE WAFFLE BOWL. The waffle bowl is fine, but the chocolate is artificial... Tastes like the chocolate flavored candies you buy at the dollar store,it's waxy and low quality. Other than that, they have maybe 12-14 flavor of frozen yogurt with both a mix of sweet and tart flavors! They also have outside seating in the back in the summer, but there's only 1 umbrella and 4-5 tables. I love eating frozen yogurt for lunch on a sunny day!!

I LOVE Menchie's!! :) This is the only one I've ever been to, but they always seem to have great flavors and great toppings too! Get the Samoa cookie one!! :)

Personally I'm a Pink Berry fan, no Pink Berry in Alaska :( but Menchies isn't bad. They have a decent selection of froyo. I like fruit flavors and they have lots of those. The toppings bar is large but mainly candy. The fresh fruit toppings are a bit limited when I visited, which is why I knocked a couple stars off, come on now. Hopefully the next time I am there the won't have empty fruit topping containers? The space is nice, they evevn have a small seperate room and the location has lots of parking. Its a fun place to grab dessert and just hang out for a bit.

Of the few self serve yogurt shops in the Anchorage area, Menchie's is at the BOTTOM of the list. The yogurt has an icy consistency, almost like a Jamba Juice, it is not on the creamier side like the other yogurt shops in town. Also, I was not impressed with the toppings display, unappealing and unmonitored. I will not be back - I know there is better quality elsewhere for the money.

This establishment is always clean, owner is sweet as can be but I have one big criticism and that would be the flavors always being off. The flavors are never 100%. I don't know If its the machines or how they are preparing it but I'm always disappointed. Fix the flavors of your frozen yogurt and ill be there everyday!!

Great frozen yogurt! Lots of flavors to choose from but the lack of fruit toppings dropped them to a 4 star. Better than Yogurt Lounge as you are able to get your own samples. The atmosphere is upbeat and friendly!!! A great place to take kids. More fruit and it will definitely be a 5 star PLUS!!!!

Ever since I first drove by Menchie's, I had been fixated on trying it. I have to admit I was greatly disappointed when I saw it was yet another self-serve yogurt shop. I don't know about everyone else, but when I dispense my own yogurt it usually winds up looking like a messy pile of dog poop. I'd prefer a professional be in charge of the swirly goodness. That being said, the yogurt was pretty tasty. I find Yogurtland's flavors to be slightly superior. I also dislike that many of Menchie's toppings are candy. I'm more accustomed to fresh fruit and mochi and although I was tempted by the nonpareils, I wound up finding the whole concoction to be really sweet. To be clear, they do have mochi and fruit, just not a huge selection. My yogurt was also more expensive than Yogurtland, but I'll admit the atmosphere at Menchie's is superior. They really worked hard on creating a fun, lively space. It feels like Menchie land. Even the smiley clerk looked like he'd jumped out of a Super Mario Brothers video game. One of the biggest annoyances is that it's too crowded. I'd say it's the price of being popular, but they also could have spaced out the yogurt machines with more elbow room. It makes you feel like you're on an assembly line. For me, the nail in the coffin is that Menchie's is very far from downtown. I have no reason to ever go to that area. With Yogurtland near my house, I feel no need to return to Menchie's. I was definitely glad to try it though! I wish it much success for all the Southies.

The newest place for froyo in town, with more flavors and topping options than any other so far. Menchies, like Yogurtland in the south terminal of the airport, is a franchise business, which comes with pluses and minuses. Thankfully, the pluses far outweigh the minuses. The owner is warm and welcoming, as is the overall interior of the shop, which consists of a main area with the yogurt and toppings bar, as well as a sealed off by glass private room, which would be great for small parties. While I'm not sure if this is true or not, it seems like there are more yogurt flavors than other shops. I know the choices are much more interesting, like cookies and cream and Mud Pie, among others, instead of the overabundance of tarts and the like, such as Soyo offers. That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of healthy options, mind you, as on my last visit there were multiple low to nonfat flavors, and at least three sugar-free flavors as well like mint and vanilla.

Having been to a TON of these types of yogurt places in Anchorage & the lower 48, I've gotta say this is my favorite. They rotate yogurt flavors (including nonfat, non dairy, low carb, kosher, etc), and have a great variety of toppings. Love that you can try samples of the flavors. Don't forget to get a "Smiles" card for extra savings... Two thumbs up!

The yogurt tasted fantastic! I got cake batter with little pices of cheesecake bites. I would say that Menchies is far from my house, so i usually go to yofurtland. But overall not bad.
